Experiences of following GS3

We currently use GS3 (allowing grass to go to seed overwinter for winter bird food) between the first and second year of two-year ryegrass leys - and as our main crop is to make horse hay in June this works really well. The payments are very attractive and it does seem to work in all ways!
This is fine between grass and grass, I would normally grow wheat after the two years of grass but am considering doing a second winter of GS3 and following it with a spring cereal or peas. As the grass cannot be touch until 1st March, I’m not sure there is time to remove the grass and successful establish a spring crop (also considering the ryegrass volunteer weed burden!) Currently drilling with a Claydon.
Does anyone have any experience of attempting a spring crop following GS3?
