Not made a claim [yet] but in every other respect they seem spot on.
Was with Towergate back in 2010 when all the farm sheds were coming down with the snow.
They paid out on replacement for our one without any hassle.
Still with same broker but just switched to Axa after being with NIG Farmweb for past few years.
NFU quoted for first time this year. Were no cheaper but have kept our broker on his toes. Cheaper renewal than past couple of years.

Whoever you decide to go with ask for a copy of the policy terms and conditions before you agree to take out a policy. Insurers will often try to use these to wiggle out of a seemingly genuine claim. For what it is worth I have had a very mixed experience with NFUM, excellent on small straightforward claims, but a complete and utter nightmare on more complex high value claims eg subsidence like we’ve had. This is the other 2% of claims the mutual don’t advertise. Just hope whoever you are with you don’t have a complex loss. Just my 2 pence worth!

Dont change....i know folk that have and when they had a fire which they did...oh dear what a fuss. cost them 1000s..stay where you are it may cost a few quid more but in the event of a a claim you will be far better off....Towergate are a no no anyway...they are only brokers and your insurance will be scattered across an array of companys

Couple years ago we had 3 quotes from NFU, Cornish mutual and a broker.
Saved us some money but was scary as to the variation in price for same cover!

Last year I asked NFU for a comparable quote for my fleet policy renewal as they kept pleading with me to come back to them after 10 years elsewhere. To my shock and horror they were twice the price of my existing insurers so i obviously stayed where I am. The service and cover is equally good and no problem with the one or two small claims we have made.

Try the CLA insurance - I had three quotes last time CLA, NFU and local Ag Broker and they were the cheapest by a country mile and so far when I have needed to claim they have been brilliant. Really helpful and prompt payment.
Get a quote from Acres, they made us savings over F&M who halved our NFU premium 3 years earlier!

I use @Kate_PaceWard for cars - they are really good on the especially hard to insure stuff
If you are going to change I would get at least 3 quotes but don’t let anyone tell you the NFU Mutual are “better” my experience is the opposite is true
one thing for sure is sadly loyalty doesn’t pay ! .... shop around

we moved nfu to towergate, massive saving, nfu said they would match it, enough said. We have changed again to mole insurance, but i think you will find, the actual bodies, that do farm insurance, are only 2/3, the only difference, should be, claim history, and brokers profit.
Main Farm Insurers are NFU, Axa, NIG Farmweb, Zurich, Cornish Mutual,Amlin,Aviva,IFARM plus one or 2 others. They all have good and bad points.
The most important point is that the person arranging your Insurance fully understands your business and farm Insurance. If the cover is arranged correctly in the first place it should pay out when there is a claim BUT the Broker/Agent arranging that Insurance needs to stand up and be counted when that claim comes along- it should not be passed to a call centre. As Brokers we take your money so we should have an obligation to sort the claim out- too many take the attitude, thats not my job.

On a daily basis we see N** knocking 10-50% off premiums to match quotes we have done. Very annoying but I have seen them do it for last 25 years since I quit working for them. It is never good for 1 company to have 65-70% of a market.

I would be insulted if any company cane back and matched a cheaper quote just because they thought i might move ! shows a willingness to rip me off in the first instance !

That's only your experience, premiums are based on various factors, maybe your were a difficult customer? Perhaps the saw you as a high risk of a claim?
In my case they were better than the 2 other quotes. By a significant difference! NFU came in cheaper than previous year and the two other were higher that what I had been paying the previous year. This could have been due to our claim history being very small therefore reducing risk.
Just because something isn't suitable for you doesn't mean other shouldn't give them a try. Insurance is a risk based.
