what are the views on the video that’s on social media? Can someone put a link up?
You will all know my views but what is the general consensus? I know I’m not always right!
Not sure if link will work

We live in a maritime climate. One day fine, next day rain (plus the weatherman are useless) so we have to work when we can. Plus breakdowns of course
Willing to bet my life that the complainants on social media all have full bellies

From my experience of working on edge of towns, in some places there is never a good time for some work/people, and without knowing the details it’s hard to comment. It may be he’d cut all the fields with more neighbouring houses first for this reason and this was his last.

The first bloke looks like a bit of a stirrer to be honest, but if they’ve got kids been woken up, it’s totally understandable they’re upset.

I did night shift years ago in Essex and will always remember the boss said there were no houses round a large block of land, apart from an empty cottage. I duly used this white building to line up with when marking out at 230am. Got 2/3 of the way up with the lights ablaze when the front door opened and some poor soul staggered out wearing the wife’s dressing gown. Always wondered what he thought waking up to the room ablaze, the ground vibrating and a quadtrac sized cloud of dust heading straight for him.......I duly then avoided that part till morning.

What’s your view then? You make your living from farmers.
My view to the guy on the tractor is “crack on”

I had a similar problem drilling wheat one year at 2:00am. The field is only drilled once a year and the weather that year was very difficult. Do people think we want to be working all these hours? They want the cheap food but not the reality that goes with it.

PS I kept drilling, but I did go to see the guy the next day with a case of beer to deflate the situation. That seemed to do the trick (y)

Yes I do make my living from farmers. My friends and family are farmers . I just think he could have handled it better rather than acting like the big I am. The first chap was rather polite and I’m sure he could have stopped. But that’s my view. What would you do if you lived in a semi detached house and your neighbor was still doing DIY at 10pm and your kids were trying to sleep? I’m just trying to point out that not everyone is a farmer and our industry does need to take a step back sometimes .

Feck me, those guys should live near Glastonbury-love to see them at the main entrance, tell 200,000 people to "turn it down mate, this is a residential area"

Seriously though, some people will complain about everything. I know 1 guy who moved into a house in a small village. The pub was next door, 1 farm was across the road, another was about 100m away across a paddock. He complained about: noise from kids playing in the pub play area, the smell of calf pens being cleaned out, hedge trimmings from a flail trimmer left on the road, 1 hour after the hedge was cut, weaned lambs bleating, cows bellowing for their calves, the noise of the milk tank compressor on a warm night, cows walking through the village to their grazing, the noise of shod horses walking through the village, the size of tractors using the road (MF 690, DB 990)

Don't know what he expected moving to the countryside?

For someone that makes his living off the backs of farmers/ contractors working all hours when the weather is right you certainly have a very anti farmer agenda with the above views.

I assume none of the machinery you sell goes up/down the motorways/local roads on the trailer of lorry's outside of the 9 am to 5pm working hours?? nope thought not and total double standards:rolleyes: as you have no concern for the people who live beside the motorway's/ local roads and have to put up with lorry's carrying you machinery noisily going along in the middle of the night when they are trying to sleep!

Like I said @gone up the hill my view may not be right! Hence this thread! I take it you live near a major road?
Edit , my point is also about the replies on social media calling them “effing townies” and “should have punched the twit”
Perhaps I live in a fluffy world but 95% of farmers I sell to, meet and Indeed who pay my wage, are very good and will work with the locals to keep the peace. The other weekend they were hauling ad plant whole crop past our house. The guys were so polite and went past at walking speed on tick over (single track road) I saw the farmer in the village shop a few days later and thanked him. He was embarrassed and said don’t thank me!

But unless he's painting the house DIY is not weather dependent. And like in my last post, some people are full time complainers and whatever time the farmer works would be reason to complain. Before 9.00 am just got up, 9.00-midday washing on the line getting covered in dust. Midday onwards We want to enjoy the sunshine, sat out in the garden and you're making all this noise!

TBH, the guy stopping the farmer to have a go, just delayed him finishing.

You move to/live in the country, you should expect country type disturbances-farmers harvesting crops, tending livestock etc. live in a town as my daughter does and you get "town" noises-pissheads, police cars, all night traffic etc. etc.
