After successfully feeding twin mules on swedes from Christmas till now it has got my brain going . We are new entrants on a run down marginal hill farm in sw Scotland just finished our second tupping season and about to start our second lambing. We have used rumivite blocks at tupping with not so good results last year but the ewes were lean and ranched as we didn’t have control till November term this year however on the same blocks we have our mules at 191 % and our hill flocks at 151 % we are fair happy . So as we look forward to next year already with the price off feed and blocks looking higher again is anyone feeding whole or shredded beet to ewes at tupping for a lift off energy.our goal is eventually to do it off grass but we haven’t the infrastructure in yet as stated we took on a run down farm first priority has been stock health followed by fencing we have done a lot off lime as luckily we are contractors too . The whole place needs fenced and reseeded we have a couple fields upto growing beet any thoughts or ideas would be grateful received
