Hmm, the nutritional information is there on the packaging for all to see - it’s hardly Mac Donald’s fault people choose to ignore it.

On a more serious note, it’s not that many years ago that GP’s were paid £50 for every diabetes diagnosis - little wonder there is a ‘diabetes pandemic looming’. Then there is also the beta blocker issue, these have been prescribed ‘ham sam’ by GP’s for blood pressure issues, anxiety and many other things. What’s the side effect of beta blockers? Diabetes.

If the NHS wants to attack the food industry about diabetes, it should hold its hand up first and admit its own culpability.

making ultra processed Kcal dense food so cheaply available is little better than selling cigarettes, drugs or alcohol in my book

junk food needs to be taxed as the above are to cover its true cost to the taxpayer …….. I expect it will be in fact

easy to blame others BUT the main reason for diabetes is obesity and this country is getting shockingly fat on cheap junk food

Thanks for the info Clive. I thought uk was pretty much self sufficient in wheat/ grains and it didnt occur to me to check if it was uk feed to the animals. Doh! Weve learned a lot from reading the posts and comments on here. Cheers!🤩
The gov still think it a bright idea to plant trees on swathes of productive farmland tho so we we grow even less for ourselves and drag more food in .....🙄

Diabetes is ultimately due to our waist lines being too big and eating too much sugar and complex carbs, how is that the fault of the NHS?

The fault lies with the multinational food industry, and especially the power they hold over our politicians, Ancel Keys bears some responsibility (but he was being funded the global sugar industry).

I didn’t say it was their fault, I said they need to admit some culpability largely by being in bed with big Pharma.
