We've a outer fence , strainers are tely wag poles, tops cut flat ,some showing signs of rot in centre.
Im thinking they want a cap to turn the water, options please 🤔
Presumably lead flashing any other options please??

Plastic is OK but perishes in the sunlight. Best is if we've got some rubber sheet type material.

Other option is cutting the top at an angle so the water sheds off but you need to do that at installation.

We use aluminium panels off a caravan, cut a circle, slice fillets and nail around post.

Must be a Wiltshire thing :D

I’ve never seen a post Rot off from the top
Telegraph poles will rot through the top where they are not treated in the middle and the hinges then pull out.
I have fence posts which were treated just after the ban , so I dipped them in oil and creo. They are sound at the bottom but the staples are falling out of the top where they are rotting in the untreated part, dip tank was not deep enough.

If you have cattle and they can get to the lead they will lick it and get poisoned!

It's likely the reason they were taken down in the first place, I just tip a bit of creosote on the top, they'll still outlast the food colouring treated tanashit posts.
