We are looking for a new spreader this year any recommendations or ones to steer clear of. I want one that’s reasonably simple but I do want it to vari according to tractor speed, spread 28m and hold 4 bags of nitram.

Just ordered a Vicon EDW for spreading 28m. There was very little between that and a Kuhn, just personal preference edged the vicon (Kv)

Big fan of our KRM does everything you ask and more if required. Decent quality paint, reliable, good value and a great company to deal with. Other option would be a kv / vicon / kubota all 3 the same machine so choose make to suit dealer / deal.

Another +1 for geo spread, not had any actuator problems 4 season old now (touch wood). They do have a greasable seal on the end of each actuator which is a good idea to keep the fert out.
I have had to replace the bolts in the weigh cells but they are only a couple of pound and about 20 minutes of a job.

Got an 8 year old geo here, one actuator got slow so changed it as it was emptying unevenly. Did try calibration, made no difference.
The section control is well worth it IMO.
Use it for vary rate n , p , k .

The software has changed so when the actuator extends it eases back ever so slightly do there isn’t pressure on the motor, it also has smoothed out the movements, but we sell approx 5-8 geo’s a year, 4 actuators on each spreader, I think we would sell 2-3 a year...., they are a cracking spreader to be fair.... on a KV, the CL 1300 geo will cover that, with 3 extensions, that would hold 2,800 litres, so 2,400 kg’s of nitram...they will spread up to 33 with lift vanes, .
Do you have a screen already?

I do.
I'm thinking of changing the spreader.
What's a new spreader without screen now?

6th season now on my KV Geo TL 2800 i think thats its litreage anyways
4 x 600kg bags from empty but always 3 max topping up otherwise its running over the extensions just about
i wouldnt go any higher if ya wanted more cap id just buy the wider model !! if gate ways aint an issue.
Still on original Actuators & SS Vanes but had them re calibrated couple of months back by dealer as i thought some were playing up.
Fab machine & very very accurate once u get it set right.
Came with big split view incab screen & its fully automatic via GPS, the in n outs esp on butts in a triangle shaped field are impressive to watch
on section control. lots of good features not so many bad really.
its peachy on Nitram poss the single best product i use with it to be honest.
Daily grease points are easu enuff & do help there is no getting away with that.
Vari Rate TSP/MOP here
There not cheap tho none of this tech is.
If you have isobus screen you could tech work it all off that & save some £££
