Its getting there, adding inputs to multiple fields is quicker than GK and more intuitive. Stock I'm not sure about but gross margin info might be enough for me to switch permanently...

Does anyone on here still use farmworks ?
Yes but need to find an alternative.
No point paying support as it is no longer being developed.
I need a program that will work with yield data and allow me to make VRA maps.
Ideally one piece of software for all records and spacial data.

I‘m also looking for an alternative as farmworks here seems to be grinding to a halt, support in none existent yet they charge the earth. I have this error coming up when ever I add a job and also having issues with the VRA maps. Currently looking at green light grower but it doesn’t do VRA maps
best of luck In your hunt for another alternative

Are you finding it good enough for serious arable work eg compliance/stock/pricing?
It looks to me like it would fall short on those aspects. Stock and pricing/costs could be achieved through export to Excel, which could be very flexible if not very usef friendly. Compliance ie detailed spray records looks like a gap to me. It could well be a very effective "front end" for a spreadsheet based farm record system. Interested to know how @Clive is getting on

I was in touch with the US about 2 yrs ago when I installed farmworks mobile on a new tablet and some of the original farmworks staff were still working for Trimble.
It is a real pity as the software is nearly there, needed some work on reports. I have been looking at various options but still to find one that can collect and make VRA maps with multiple controllers.
I have 20 years of maps and data on FW so live in fear of my pc dying or having the same issue as you!

They are already doing stock, records etc... just haven't added pricing yet. Seems like an easy addition given what's already there and they do listen to suggestions.

Hi Camilla

I used it successfully for three years, and helped Rob with various suggestions as he developed it. He then said he was stopping FieldMargin and that it wasn’t going to be supported any more, so I went elsewhere.

It’s a shame because it was a great product that I’d have been very happy to pay for.

Wow, you must have been one of our very early users then! We are still going strong but made some pretty radical changes to make fieldmargin more map focused, flexible and easier to use which is why we stopped support on the early version.

If you're willing to give us a second chance email me at [email protected] and I'd be happy to help you get started.

Adding costings is something that we have talked about a lot.

In the meantime you can export all of your job data to Excel and use that to calculate costings. Here's a blog post that shows how to get from our data export to calculate per hectare costs https://blog.fieldmargin.com/2020/0...crop-type-for-farm-analysis-and-benchmarking/. Now that we record yield data too it would be pretty easy to get to gross margins from here. I hope that helps!
