Fire extinguishers on machinery

Anyone ever put an automatic fire extinguisher under the bonnet of a tractor or in the engine/oil pump compartment of an excavator?

I have seen some 'clean agent' auto extinguishers which look good, advertised as the new Halon?

What do you recommend?

I would have Foam on a vehicle.
Also powder is awful with corrosion after! So if the fire dont melt it the powder after will corrode everything!
Had customer let a powder off under dash board once cause he thought it was on fire! All it was a melted wire wouldnt have amounted to much.
For years after it had electric problems with corrosion of terminals. You clean it all but it just comes back twice as bad. Fortunately I dont have to work on it any more so not my problem?

Yer they are but no good if they go hard as ace said. I haven't seen this my self. I do believe powder is corrosive and definitely messy

I wanted to use one that I carried I the van once cause I had a small incident involving brake cleaner and battery terminals plus some hay on a machine! Bloody thing didnt work so grabbed my bottle drink and used that instead. Was a hot day and I had nothing to drink for the rest of it?‍♂️

Also took several out of customers machines and scrapped them, been rolling about in cab for years an gone solid.

Cherry products selling the composite ones now too. 10 year services with annual self certification so no need to pay someone to wipe the dust off them annually?

How ever there claims of the foam being a replacement for all due to being save with electric is wrong! It is safe to some extent but there are restrictions. Spoken with NFU on it as I was looking at going this route.
NFU are fine with the annual check self certification etc but there advice was there foam does not replace a standard powder.
How ever this isnt a problem as they do a composite in powder aswell.?

I will probably get the small 2litre foam one for the van sometime but for the workshop I just stuck with normal extinguishers as I only got 2 anyway so not really any cost savings to be had and it's someone else's name on the paper work not mine.
