Flatbed Trailer.... Bateson?

No rope hooks,
Holes on top side of side rail, and chassis rail is all drilled out to reduce weight, so plenty of options,
Only gripe, trailer is designed from car carrying trailer, cross members are not over strong, I have doubled mine up,
Only an issue when loading , say a six furrow plough, and all the weight is down the middle, I just use spreader timbers,

Thank you for you're responses, we've narrowed ir down to Brian James or Bateson

The Bateson costs less,
I rather the look of the Bateson,

But with Brian James their Sides are tensioned so that would reduce any rattling noise etc....

Bateson use Lynch clips,

Are batesons noisy on the road?

Bateson have more hooking on points on the flat part of the deck.... Does bateson have any hook on points underneath like Brian James does?

Thank you
We have a trailer on linch pins, there is a plastic washer in behind each one & it only rattles going over a big bump.

I have run Bateson for years , no rattling and banging , dosent sound like pulling a set of chain harrows like some.

I run 16 foot 7’6” wide with extra side markers , extra hooks but only twin axle, can carry more weight on a twin axle trailer .

Spends most of its time a maximum weight

A brilliant trailer but the first thing I do on a new one is take the low profile tyres off , won’t stand any knocks and put some proper tyres on .

Problem solved .

Its always for sale to.

We run 8x 14ft tilt bed ifor williams and we get on well with them. They all work very hard carrying machinery and are often at there max weight. We have not had any major issues them. What I would say is that the newer ones do not seem as well made as the older ones. The general welding and finish is not as good so time will tell how long they last. We have run Bateson in the past and have also found them to be good traiers. They have better suspension and are much quieter when towing. We only stick with Ifor due to a local dealer and good resale value, but if needed we would buy a Bateson with no hesitation.

What tyres are you swapping them for specifically? Cheers

Currently looking at swapping my Ifor Lm166. Like the look of a bateson and have found a dealer with stock orders coming in in the next 2 months, not the 40 week lead time currently quoted for a new build from scratch. Toying with the idea of a tilt bed this time as move a mini digger about a bit and for packs of hay and straw we could slide the packs off the back on rollers rather than handballing it all off. not sure about the diddy10 inch tyres tho.

10" tyres are brilliant. Somehow So much more robust than 12"

Out of curiosity how much is a new 14ft flatbed off whatever brand?
Seeing ifors advertised lately for anything up to 5 or 6 grand which is utter madness

What about flotation on soft going 10inch tri axle vs 12/13 inch tandem ?

16 foot Bateson with headboard / ladder rack / led lights, ramps was just under £4K plus vat. Add £1000 for an extra axle and tilt bed

Granted 10" don't roll as well as 12" on soft ground. But then I've never actually had mine stuck

There's a firm in Craven Arms that make trailers with a short waiting time also make trailers to buyer specifications if needed
Also supply parts for diy which interests me

Motiv make specialist rowing boat trailers as well as more regular types. Was quoted estimated 3-6 months so you can bet it would be over 6 months as was the last one we purchased from them.
Im thinking of starting to make them myself, just reading all the certification stuff as I isolate with COVID… it’s a minefield.
