Fleet of tractors

People who bought Strutt&Parkers Farms in 2019 apparently deal direct with John Deere bypassing local dealers. No idea how many tractors and combines they bought but equipped over 30,000 acres in one go from scratch. Would have thought they would have got a fairly good deal on that lot.

Our John Deere dealer tells me you get an extra 2% for buying two, and an extra 3% for buying three, but thats it, it stays at 3% extra whether you buy 3 or 10.

Bare in mind even a 155r is knocking on for £200k retail, so that 3% is worth £6k/ tractor.

Don't you have big hire companies over there buying 40 or so tractors at one time. I reckon they are buying them really good and sell them after a year for nearly the same price.
I know there are special discounts available to replace a rival brand. Might be different in the UK where jd have largest market share but in Ireland it's neck and neck between jd nh and mf.

@KennyO Will know better than me. But some of big operators in Angus like the Stirlings and Carnegies replace a whole fleet at a time.

I remember stories of curtainsiders with oil and filters accompanying them. Not sure if any truth in it.

Pretty sure they do it through Agricar then Agricar will speak to NH. Stirling's something like 15 tractors every 3 or 4 years.

Carnegie's got a lot of Claas as well as NH now. They did do a whole fleet deal a few years ago.

Know a man well who bought 6 new tractors in one hit. Dealt with the manufacturer through the territory manager, local dealer was present during negotiations but was really only there to sort out backup.
Bit unfair that when a big deal comes along the dealer is kinda cut out. How come these big deals the smaller players like sdf and agri arco isnt goin after them with all guns blazein

But the dealer wouldn't stand a chance on his own, he will get the PDI fee and the servicing and warranty and the tractors will be supplied through him so helping him to meet discount targets.
