Fly strike

Having a really bad problem with fly strike this year in the lambs. All lambs have been treated with crovect. it has been reapplied to them all but I’m still finding new lambs with strike. Can anyone suggest a reason why I’m still having problems and also suggest a different spray?

clikzin….has a short withdrawl.

Weather is your main enemy. Warm damp with rain. Reducing crovect lifespan.

Are you using the right nozzle for the gun?

Should be the short 'fan' spray.

It only works on the wool to which it applied so make sure you cover appropriately.

I get trouble with strike between the back legs, this is tricky to cover.

I always use clic, never have problems, problem is its 30 days or so on meat.

Always use Clik extra here beginning of June as it will take them through the rest of the season. Good product but expensive ,however, only need a relatively small dose for lambs .

We have had problems with Crovect equivalent after only 3 weeks and well applied.
In fact have never known a season like it for Fly as we are getting ewes struck after only being shorn 3 weeks.
I’m glad you’ve said that. We were gathering too dip yesterday and found 2 ewes blown in the shoulder only a fortnight after being blown. I don’t think I can remember a fly season quite this bad!! All we seen too be doing is chasing maggots. Hopefully that will stop now they’ve had a good plunge!
