If its on private land its up to the land owner to clear it. Councils have a choice to investigate the crime or not, but they can make the landowner remove the rubbish and provide waste transfer notes to prove correct disposal.

They dumped some on my private land once......

Depending what's dumped, you may find various agencies have a statutory duty to investigate. My local council are very good but fighting a loosing battle. They wouldn't have to fight a loosing battle if they were a touch more proactive. Example quotes "yeah, we wondered when they would dump that lot" referring to a pile of tyres and car parts that had been building up in the back of a local transit tipper, and which was on camera leaving full and coming back empty. A proactive council would have noted the vehicle and enquired about its waste transfer license. Instead they just cleared up the crap from the verge.

Round here at least the tippers have the decency to tip on the verges. Or sometimes just open the tailgate on the road.

How do you know they didn't note his details and fine him after he dumped it?

Too easy to get a carriers licence...

Looks all official then when they rock up and say it's 45p a tyre.. Only to tip them in a field or a stack a warehouse to the roof with them.

I know loads of Mittys like that... Had too many chats about non existent Crumbing machines and Power stations in the desert.

Aye. Some “landscape gardeners” here tipped straight onto the A631 as they sped off when I caught them red handed. Leylandii trimmings. Was in “ hot pursuit “ and requested road block from police to trap them but they weren’t interested. Roscoe P Coltrane could have done a better job. We need a high sheriff of Lincolnshire with a colt 45, not a silly hat and tights.

Here they tipped them on the road on a bank holiday. Plod actually came and tidied them up. Slung them onto the verge. Was quite funny.

By the time I’d answered questions about my ethnicity and been asked if I was sure the perpetrators weren’t actually clearing up the rubbish rather than dumping it they were miles away. I got the reg number and was the only witness. Would I like to proceed with a court case against them? Can you guarantee they won’t come back and burn my farm down?
No.
Well I am not preferred to go to court and be the fall guy then.
They got a good talking to from WLDC and that was it.

Its nearly like the wild west nowadays. There is really only police in large towns. Chances of any police backup in the countryside is damn near non existent especially at night.
Only difference is we don't have guns to defend ourselves!

Theres something on the fb post that says Matt and we were passing for a back load ,,presume the guy was known to the landowner
You can pay £2 I believe and get the information from the DVLA with a legitimate reason which I believed includes flytipping. Plus they said after being posted on facebook the culprit contacted them and said he would come back and get them.

I'd say it is also covered by the third example on the site

A load got dumped on tuesday in the entrance to the AW reservoir ,,a few pictures of the assorted mess went on the local fb crime page ,,with in 15 minutes of the pictures showing a mobile phone droped at the site and reports of a van in the area ,,somebody had gone back to the rubbish and fired it ,,thankfully the field had been cut and the stubbles were wet else it could have been a disaster the way the wind was blowing

I've offered to fund proper council cameras. They not interested. They put little signs out. Tippers try extra hard to tip on signs. This lot will have driven past two video equipped anpr cameras to do this. Will be one of three people. I'll say no more.

It does my head in, the council would prefer to waste money on PC woke carp, if you caught someone tipping, no one would respond , if they did, the penalty would be zero , theres no deterrent anymore in this country , it's a free for all , and the scum are having a field day .

if only there was some kind of system that could be used to stop this illegal activity maybe a way of monitoring and collecting data on persons who do this kind of thing oh I don't know just of the top of my head a licence the kind you pay a fee for to allow you to carry this kind of load thinking out loud here you could call it a waste carriers licence thats shown on paper work and at the receiving dump and then moving forward you could apply it to all sorts of things I mean that would stop all this lawlessness in minutes like the success of dog licences driving licences we could even have one to farm animals .:rolleyes::rolleyes:

if you said you caught someone and they were being homophobic or transphobic they would be on it straight away like a tramp on chips!
