Similar to the one pictured. Trying to modify it to front mounted hydraulic drive. Just need some info on how the auger is mounted

The one we had was a bare end, no support. Never had a problem with it and it handled some large swaths of straw at times. Brilliant how it just flipped the swaths upside down.

So what actually supported the auger? I assume it didn't just rest in the trough being pick up real?
Looks like mine is just supported simply by a bearing at both ends of the auger

Ever seen beet harvester topper augers 😮 They are supported one end 😬

If I remember correctly that dog bone shape steel bar took all the weight and also allowed the auger to float a little. Obviously it ran quieter when material was going through it.

Thanks for that. Mine is totally different to that. It can't possibly work without being supported both ends.
i just drilled the box section through to mock it up see if it works. Will swap for a bearing now it's working properly
Ahh yeah yours does look different. Hope it all goes to plan and works for you 👍🙂

Have a look at a john deere small baler, 342 for example for ideas. They have an auger only supported at the one end
