A lockdown (called confinement here) is not instant...
However, I am struggling to see any difference to before this confinement (other than not being able to get a hair cut) whereas the March/April confinement it was absolutely dead.
Same here , think people have made their own minds up

two other points.
The confinement didn’t really start untill Monday as there was the day of the dead amnesty.
But, this morning I’ve just been to our bank in Bellac and for the first time in 7 years I couldn’t find a parking space (bringing back memories of uk life), so pretty busy still 🤷‍♂️
Mind (and I’m sure it would be to the consternation of @Pasty) everyone with a mask, inside and out

I do like to see folk wearing masks in enclosed cars or in the fresh air. Reminds me that most people are complete morons.

I do wonder when I see folk on their own in their car but (well this one at least) its a free country (y)
No. It's not. It's a terrified country and heading more and more towards the Chinese slavery model of communism, which of course is not communism at all but dictatorship. I'll be dead by the time it happens but I do have concerns about my children. Where is your freedom under 'lockdown'? The police in the UK are certainly enjoying flexing their generally low IQs. What can't you do today that you could do a year ago? What won't you be able to do tomorrow because some twit made some mad prediction or forecast or whatever you want to call it (and they have ALL been wrong) about our impending doom.

When do we stop listening to the WHO, University college London, Sage and so on and so on who have got everything wrong? Look at who funds them and find a common theme. Stop watching the MSM and dig a bit deeper. Then you can be mocked as a conspiracy theorist.

So who are we supposed to be listening to, oh wise one?

Strange old world. The things that worry me are the prospect of long scorching dry summers with dust for soil and fires all around. (Well, the last two years we have been about there already) torrential rains and mainly plus 200 kph winds 🤷‍♂️ .
What do you think? I just can’t imagine having a hurricane blowing my roof off, trees falling all around cars blowing over and thinking “hmm, I think the presidential voting system needs updating”

Have people started accepting cheques now? Back in the 90s it was cash or P--s off.

Sadly that is desperately close to the situation with a lot of ex pats here ...
But we don’t work with any
Chèques are of course a rare thing now and most of our business is done with direct banking - it’s the time of year though, the advance on the sub arrives in October here so I get paid for all the stuff I have done for neighbors over the last 11 months - and have to get them to the bank quick or it’ll be another year before they go through. Difficult times in western world farming

If you bounce a cheque in France, all your accounts are suspended by Banque de France and you can't hold a chequing account for 10 years. You can only withdraw cash from your branch.
Supermarkets generally are card or cash, no cheques.
Business is mainly cheques but we are very rural. Although I use plastic where I can.

Cash is on the way out. Once the central banks get their crypto (fiat) currencies on the go they will be taking it all back in and burning / smelting the lot. Might be a good idea to collect the fancy 50p and £2 coins especially. I have been. If it stays legal tender then all good but if not it will be worth way more. Look at the value of old round £1 coins. I haven't looked for a while but they were way over face value. Might be nothing, might be a handy side bet.
