More than 350m metric tonnes of plastic waste is produced a year, and by 2060 plastic waste is set to increase to 1bn metric tonnes.
The UK government argues its financial guarantees are in line with its support for a global transition towards net zero.

UKEF said Ineos had promised to become carbon neutral for Scope 1 and 2 emissions 10 years after the start of operations

The production of plastic is, however, hugely carbon intensive. Over 99% of plastic comes from fossil fuels and plastic production is by far the largest industrial oil, gas and electricity user in the EU

Clever that isn’t it? Get the money floodgates opened then 10 years later maybe buy some carbon offsets that will do absolutely fekk all and won‘t even touch the sides of this monstrous money-making machine. Fekk the planet by all means if you absolutely must but at least be honest about it. What an utter joke, and actually being greenlit by you and I through the UK govt

How and why are we going to produce three times as much waste in 35 years time?
Or has someone taken some random statistics completely out of context to each other and mashed them together to come up with a totally fantastical figure?
When someone uses stuff like that to grab attention, it makes me completely disregard anything else they have to say.
