GPS and seeding

Hi,

Might be a stupid question, but here goes: We have the usual headland problem where the yield isnt what we would like, compaction etc. Even though we try to mix which sides we turn the most on, it usually is the same result. Would seeding with GPS/RTK and section control and proper alignment of the seeder settings for ISOBUS (how far behind is it, turning points) allow us to basically just go around in circles till completion? As in you only drive once on everything. Or would the turns be a problem for the drill, one side going faster then the other and the usual issues with turns.

I know, far-fetched, just looking for solutions.. :)

Do you drill headlands last?

If you've headlands saved on gps do your inside run first with no seed, then use this mark to drop/lift drill on.

Once you've all inside of field drilled, get a tined cultivator and rip up ends/compaction where drill tractors been turning .

Then when this is done, drill headlands from outside in. Do all our fields like this. Normally have grubbers on loader tractor, its in field to remove large stones/load drill anyway.

Thanks for your reply! Yea, we try to do what you describe and it is absolutely better then headlands first. Just curious if technically it would be possible to drill this way with rtk and sectioncontrol. Would eliminate the problem if so:)

You're best bet is to just miss a width then fill in in between I try to do this with the rollers as much as possible and it's amazing how much better the headlands are in fields i do compared to someone else who just works off 1 side
