Has anyone used a Weaving Shortdisc?

As per the title, wondered what people’s experience was. I am guessing it is a fairly lightweight machine made for tickling the surface?

I had 3m one for 2 seasons traded in this year. Arms holding rear roller cracked where they bend In first season. Weaving supplied new with bracing plates to fix foc. Stones bend the angle iron used in roller. Only used on 100hp so not run at warp speed. On soft sand/ Sandy loam soil after subsoiler it would bunny hop leaving currugations, at virtually any speed, which was hopeless for the drill to follow. Good machine for straight into stubble as quite aggressive bite on the discs, but did not suit me for secondary cultivation. Previous set of knocke discs from weaving worked perfectly for the previous decade without any of the above issues. Sub disc from weaving is my main tool of choice which is good for one pass cultivation on light soil.

If your looking at short discs this thread may be worth a flick through -

I got a 4m set of Proforge short discs last year and very happy with the build quality and sensibly priced as well.

JD 6630 just about manages them ok as there is a bit of weight in them. 6215R walks away with them (12kph plus no problem).
This was one pass chopping up some fallow.

Only small issue I’ve found is, if what you’re working up is long and damp it can build up around the scrapers on the packer! It doesn’t stop the packer but it’s a pita to clean! When I get a minute I’m going to adjust the scrapers to see if it makes any difference.

Been running a 4 metre weaving for 6 years, been using on tractors from 120hp to 270hp but normally on a 195hp tractor. Needs weight on front but we have been really impressed by what it can do.

We aim to disc after the combine, low disturbance subsoil if needed, then disc again and get a good seedbed.

Haven’t had any issues with cracking. Have had a couple of the rings bend slightly if it’s picked up a brick in the roller but generally been good.
We liked the weaving short disc as had good bit of clearance between disc gangs.

If it isn’t setup completely right it can leave a small furrow but thats our only gripe.

We are on heavy clay land.
