I have never double dosed my sheep with Hep P. I just give them a single dose every year 4-6 weeks before lambing. Is this a total waste of time or does it give them some protection? I've never had a problem health wise so far touch wood !!

It's not so much for their benefit, more for the antibodies that they will pass onto their lambs.
Will they pass those antibodies on even if they don't have the initial double dose?

Will work from the 2nd dose practically as well as starting with a double dose. But the 1st year when they only get one dose will have lower protection.
The single dose however will tend to give well over half the protection the 2 doses give. The responce to a single dose of any vaccine tends to be less predictable then from 2 doses.

You just need to find a neighbour doses a flock around the same time and see if you can get the left overs to jab same day. It is very rare that there won't be a fair bit of wastage when doing 100+ sheep.

Its getting back in stock most places. Our local supplier had a full fridge on monday. HepP in 50mls only looked like.
Ovivac in 250's and bravoxin in 100's, so various size packs may not be in stock.

We're covexin 10 but glad to see this question asked. We never manage the interval they recommend. There's a balance between how many weeks, and how many times the poor sheep are gonna get herded into the yard.
Also we buy way in advance, everything now, after the debacle of stuff running short during covid. Meds have a long expiry date.
It does seem hellish dear. Sheep certainly suck some vet med costs

Be carful and check dates. Some products this past year only 6 to9 months to use by date. Got caught out with a 5l wormer.This needs to be the header on the Livestock section!

Vaccinations need good planning. Try to avoid giving to lambs at high stress times such as shearing and weaning.

If you want full protection against all 10 then 2 doses required. If you do 1 dose it will cover the same as Heptavac without the P.
We went to Bravoxin and don't seem to lose mature ewes to P but you may be different.
