We have one that is in 10500 hours, had it from new always been well serviced. Most of its work now is haulage but still does 1500 a year. It's a 2012 Dyna 6 50kph. What should we start worrying about? Had a bearing collapse in a trumpet 5 years ago but that's about it. Is it sensible to start thinking about an engine rebuild, or gearbox check over? It's a nice simple tractor with manual hydraulics, never really done much heavy cultivation, mostly lighter jobs like potato planting, destoning and straw spreading on the carrots.

If your doing 1500 hrs a year why not just trade up, that,s what most of us do, otherwise you end up with an old tractor thats not worth much and the gap to new gets bigger and bigger.

Maybe just invest the money you would need to spend to upgrade and dip into it if needed for repairs.

However if as most are borrowing to trade up does that really make sense?

At 10500 hrs he will get very little for it from the trade , keep driving it and if you have to spend a few pound on it it will still be less than a meter tractor . At the age it's at its losing very little / hr, , I have 4 tractors over 10,000 and I've no intention to change any of them.

It's the luck of the draw. At that hours it's done most of its deprecation. What's it worth 16k? Get it up to 20k hours and if it still starts and runs it's still with 10 grand. Keep going as long as break downs are unexpected. If you set out in the morning knowing it will probably brake down - time to trade up. We have a 95. 11k hours. Needed it first big gbox repair a few months ago. Cost a few thousand to fix but cheaper than finance. Yours being a 85, the engine and gearbox are rated for much more power so they should be not hard worked.

keep it, looking at the adverts there many more tractors with high hours and still strong money , if its going well leave well alone and look after her !

Engine s are bomb proof so should be ok there heard gearboxes were a bit soft but if you look after it should be good . Has it been dealer serviced ? How’s your relationship with local dealer possibly get them to look over it and price up any work needing done surely worth spending a bit of money to keep going rather than fork out a fortune for a newer one

Sisu engine is capable of twice that if serviced regularly. Dyna 6 recon gearbox for 6480 is 3500 from agco so a 85 wouldnt be much more still far cry from changin money
