Mines rather small, swan chewed and was late drilled. Had abit to much rain as well, would you keep with it ?

Hmm. Good plant population s the quick answer is yes, it's worth keeping on a low input basis, but that's not a 5 t/ha crop & won't be GAI 3.5 by flowering. What CSFB larval burden is it carrying?

It was an October drilled experiment, CSFB hasn't touched it, but will need to monitor it from now on. :nailbiting:

I hope it makes it, as I dont want to risk anymore S OSR, already got the seed for 25 acre, plus its had Astrokerb

Fert on, bangers out, shut gate until dessication.

That was going to be my opinion too, if there were no larvae eating the guts out of it. 160 kg N and walk away until pre harvest desiccation. I don't see much more than £300/t for it this year with crude oil prices as they are so IMO it doesn't justify the N Max you could theoretically use. If you read RB209 there's a table with the break even N ratio for what you think it will yield, the osr price and N price that would aid your decision on N rates.

Just been to put some n and sulphur on what we have left. Up and down the field once and it’s knackered. No more rape for me Iam done with it.

What is this deficiency please and how would you treat it?View attachment 867649

What has it been treated with and when? Much N or S so far? Big or small doses? Any P or K?

The interveinal pale patches suggest Mg deficiency. Purpling suggests phosphate.

Cut plants off at ground level and send them to a lab for tissue testing. Lancrop or NRM are the main ones though others are available. Older leaves will be senescing as the stems extend, so beware of a dying leaf looking unhealthy.

Today we was 6 farmers cropscout wintercrops . We look at Rye , WW and WOSR . There was some late drilled WOSR (17/8) that looks not so good, some looks fair (drilled6-7/8) and some close to lake Mälaren was the best I ever seen! This great WOSR is drill with a HeVa subsoiler drill .
Is that way of drill WOSR Common in UK ?

It was very popular a few years ago. It usually brought up moisture and got seed away from SU residues in fresh soil. Propyzamide worked well on blackgrass between the rows as the soil was undisturbed. It would still be my preferred method of establishment if we grew it.
Now WOSR is almost yesterdays crop due to the cabbage stem flea beetle.

Seed to soil contact could be a little tricky with higher clay content soils but it was very popular. Only the slow work rate and high horsepower requirement put people off. Blackgrass control wasn’t great in the rows.
