As per title just taken on a field with a pointed wall tight against the road.
It is covered in ivy and I don,t want the expense of rebuilding the wall.
Have cut as much back with the hedgecutter as I can but how do i prevent re growth?

I agree entirely that many things live in it and nest in big bushes.
My concern is the damage it is doing, has done to the wall.
I have a big dilemma when in my wood as to whether to cut or leave it growing up the tree. Try to judge on an individual basis, only cut it on the tallest ash where it looks like it might pull them over.

He’s organic .....

Don’t get the hate against ivy myself. Often buzzing with insect life.
Live and let live

I’ve got it on the end of my house and quite like it. Always handy for a ewe that’s off colour too.

Wasn’t clear it was part of the organic enterprise, but are there not derogations available for invasive species?

Done the cutting trick, but not always possible, and it comes back.

I have found some good success with ecoplugs, little plastic widgets filled with Glypho 640, drill a hole, pop the plug in and knock it in to release the active. Used mainly for killing stumps, but stops Ivy... slowly

I'm in @ Bald Rick's camp, Personally Id leave it if I could.

But when I've had to take Ivy off walls I cut all the main root stems i can find and then leave it for a while until the bushy bit has died. That way when you pull it off the wall, all the little roots that are stuck to and embedded in the wall will have died as well, and you are less likely to pull the wall over.

As i have said before ,shave it with garden hedge cutter , and follow straight behind with knapsack ,with 480 glpho ,with oil and water conditioner , give it a good soaking ,all the cuts you make with garden cutter, more surface area to take chem in , it works ,
