I’d love a Rivian but it won’t happen anytime soon.

Starting to think about replacing current Hilux which has been a fantastic vehicle. Be 5 years old soon with 100k miles

Invincible X auto spec.

I’d love a true electric pick up but seems the uk is lagging behind the states. I have solar panels to charge an electric vehicle.

The Rivian looks a very capable bit if kit.

But any of the mainstream pickup makers going electric?

Toyota, Nissan, Ford, Mitsubishi??

The Ford F-150 Lightening looks like a terrific truck… Ranger next perhaps ? Just ordered a new hilux, hope there will still be diesel around in 10 years as the warranty runs out ! ( 11 years by the time I get the thing)

Lightning isn't coming to Europe (at least for now) and Ranger is only getting a hybrid powertrain so if we want pure electric we're kinda shafted in Europe..

LDV seem to be making a right hand drive electric ute for the Kiwi market. No idea if they'll make it to Blighty.
There seems to be a few of there diesels about now, cheap but perhaps not a Toyota:unsure:

they will ALL go electric within the next few years

it is not only being driven by environmental pressures - customers want them. Especially those who can generate their own electricity

in the States, aftermarket electric kits are selling very quickly. Ford sold out of their electric crate motor - so obviously there is a stronger demand than they expected

Actually saw my first charging station for electric vehicles a week ago in rural Manitoba. Was on the main highway that crosses Canada Trans canadas hwy 1. Four cars waiting to use it.

I'd love a Rivian too, but I can't see them coming to the UK as they're about 3.2 ton empty.

Doesn't leave a lot of payload when they're plated to 3500kgs unless you want to do your HGV license to drive one....

the most remote one I’ve physically seen is at Coober Pedy, in northern SA. It was a Tesla
Our NRMA ( national roads & motorists association, like the UK AA I suppose ? ) is installing heaps, we have one of theirs in my home town of about 10,000 people ), Ampol ( fuel company ) are spending about $100 million in the next few years putting in charging stations in their “petrol” stations & I also think that a lot of people just charge at home. Many hotels & tourist destinations are also making a thing about having charging stations, just like they used to about swimming pools for example . . .

And therein lies the problem for all commercial elec vehicles until they alter the weights you can drive on a regular car licence (which I've read somewhere there are proposals to do for electric vehicles).

I haven't time to troll the internet for a link, but I'm certain you can go to 4.25tons on electric or hybrid under the same lack of restrictions as 3.5 tons.

Edit.....it's snappily called the "alternative fuel payload derogation"

Up here in Scandinavia you can now weigh 4,25 tons on a regular car license and AFAIK that is about to become an EU wide thing as there is a proposal making its way through the halls of the EU parliament...
