Batteries-only ever had the 5 amp ones, are the 5.5 amp ones worth getting over the 5? And are the 8s worth getting over the 5? Used for drill, impact driver, big 1/2 impact wrench and grinder, missed out on the deal ace found me last month as other priorities over took the upgrade requirements and wondering if I should be spending even more and upping the battery "oomph" at the same time as I currently have 3 5amp (4 if I ever find the missing one) and would want to get another 2/3 batteries when I upgrade

the 5.5amp and the 8amp have better cells for more oomph, the 5.5amp is i think the same size casing at the 8amp?? or very close.

Problem with them is the 5.5amp battery sticks out more so you cant get so close to the work with a drill or impact gun.

for example IF i put my 5amp on my 3/4" impact with a deep 32mm socket the battery will just clear the tyre/rim on most manitous, the 5.5amp wouldn't. Its the ONLY downside really other than the higher price.

read somewhere that the new 3amp high output will in most cases do as well as the old 5amp. but a good deal lighter

Ok, it might be time to join the red club.
I’m not needing a drill/driver at the moment, but I keep finding a need for a Sawzall equivalent. Any thoughts on the M18BSX? Kit with 2 x 5A batts & charger on Powertoolmate.

Having moved from bosch blue fairly antique stuff, the two things I find really unforgivable on the milwaukee tools is, the really poor battery attaching, they are always loose, and fiddly to remove with gloves on.
Worse though is the positioning of the forward reverse switch on the impact and drill driver, I'm always hitting it by mistake mid drive, which can't do the gearbox any good.

dont have one but i do have the m12 fuel hacksaw and is handy for cutting up off stuff. The M18 ones are heavy not really what i wanted.

Battery is meant to be loose for vibration, the contracts are rubber mounted. its really not an issue. forward reverse like wise never been an issue for me although my combi drill locks the trigger in forwards if the slide isnt exactly right, its a common fault with a particular batch of drills i think and easy fixed but i just not bothered yet.
