If market don't get back to normal buy August?

Obviously this virus is going to take along time to sort out, maybe a year of lock down or some kinda restrictions, so what's going to happen this August when big sheep sales happen, guys can't hold stock on upland farms till October, and what about tups, breeding sheep, 6 months isn't that long in coming round. Maybe things will be sorted but lt won't be business as normal.

Online sales or private, at markets there someone for everything, fancy top drawer or smallish run of the mill, this just won't work, private sales are OK when just a small number, but if you want to sell 300,400 in August to get some money in the bank, how do you start going about it, maybe tups but l don't think the government will want alot of farmers going here and there even in August. This will have to be sorted out in early summer time so folk have an idea how they are going to buy stock and sell stock and more importantly get some money.

If we are in lockdown till May the country will be on it's arse!!!!!!
No, but it won't be much fun.

As far as the time goes, the reality if one reads between the lines of the Government's, the CMO's and CSO's words is that, unless something remarkable happens to fix things, we are going to be pretty much as we are now until mid-June. After that there will be a period of relative normality, followed by another lock-down; and the cycle will continue until either we have national herd immunity or a successful mass vaccination program.

Bleak at times, but better than the alternative, much like life really. (y)

You must be a bundle of joy, lad! You're always posting negative stuff. You'll come to a premature end if this is how your head works, 24/7.

IF we are still shut down, in terms of freedom of movement of people, come the autumn and we can not hold traditional breeding sales

We have;

Online sales - sales section on here!

The farming papers livestock ad sections.

Private sales farmer to farmer. Directly contact those who you deal with/buy from in the past. Get your phone out and look through your contacts. Or your friends on FB or Instagram...

Auction marts fieldsmen working as middle men/brokers - they know a farm with 300 gimmers to sell, also know several buyers looking for gimmers... they put them together

There's plenty of options out there for us! Very little to worry about.

Tups is slightly different, but again - buy from guys you've bought off before. Just go to them direct and take your pick.

Or. Needs must... just leave a few of your own lambs entire and don't buy in anything.

Yes, the likes of Farmstock Scotland will be very busy. Sellmylivestock are another option. Stock will get shifted. Anyway, let's get lambing out the way first before we worry about that!

I don't think the population will put up with either a prolonged lockdown or one where there is brief periods of normality then back to a full lock down.

Death rates currently are much below what the computer models are saying they should be and even many government experts are now saying the lockdown announced on Monday has gone to far and wasn't needed.

Contemplating ringing my store lamb markets to book my 2m slot for the Autumn...
Might throw caution to the wind and book my 2m for the Cheviot mule sale at Longtown in August too. ?
I wonder if the first bookings can pick their spot? I dont like the idea of not standing in my usual place!
