Insuring a backhoe?

I've got an unusual machine which is effectively a light tractor with a backhoe (albeit front mounted). It's road-legal.

I'm struggling to find insurance for it, and after a conversation with NFU mutual today, it sounds like it's because of the intended use.

Part of my work is gardening / landscaping, and the machine will be used for that from time to time.

Has anyone had similar issues finding insurers, or able to recommend a company who can assist?

The NFU don’t like risk, unbelievable quotes for public liability, and machine cover,
And when you are insured with them, when there’s a claim, it’s underwritten, and they wash their hands of any claims,

Our very small 50 hp articulated telehandler is classed as on the reg. Document and insured as an excavator - much cheaper ,( with nfu )

But at what premium cost, I’ve had no liability of machinery claims. But they were not interested in renewing other than at an exorbitant cost, especially with hired in machinery,

There's a little used Motor vehicle insurance level known (I think) as Road Traffic Act which provides the very basic level to use a vehicle legally on the road (less cover than normal third party)

For work, it should be insured under your Public Liability policy
