Introduce Yourself

Hello everyone, I have been on here for a while, quietly enjoying the great range of threads and I thought it was time to finally introduce myself. I am 29 years old and from NI. My grandad, uncle and cousin all farm and I love nothing more than spending time on their dairy farm in Co. Cork. I am an ecologist (for now) but spend too much time on TFF and making plans for when I can retire to a few acres in the country. Keep up the good work people.
Welcome aboard. TFF seems to accept all sorts so an ecologist shouldn't scare the livestock too much :D

Hi Dan.
Welcome to the mad house:ROFLMAO: sounds really fascinating. I'm glad you got back to what you enjoyed doing most. I've been in farming, with my family, for about 20 years now, beforehand we lived in the big city :D but would never go back to that no matter what (y) I hope you enjoy your time on here as much as we do having you aboard.
All the best
Buffy

Hi Buffy
Great to hear from you, and thanks for your encouragement.

Hello everybody! I’ve just joined today, and my main reason for joining was to learn more about the industry and hopefully find a route into working in it. I’m currently a Joiner but at the age of 28 I’ve decided that working in agriculture is the career I’d like to pursue.

Hi. I am JC Faure from South Africa. I manage a Beefmaster cattle stud of roughly 500 females on 9000ha. I joined to hear and see how the other half do things in the industry. We all have different challenges and unique situations and I believe this forum can help to broaden ones horizon to some degree. Keep on farming!

Hi I'm Richard.

In need of some advice. I have a good work history but nothing in the Farming and Agri sector.

I am currently working as Management Accountant and have been in the accounting/finance sector for 7 years. I have come to a point which I have known for quite a long time that working in an office is not for me. Going brain dead is an understatement.

I am wanting to get to the outside. I have a passion for animals always have! I like to work hard and feel like I have achieved something and contributed which I rarely get in my current profession. I am not afraid to get my hands dirty (which I think is important in the farming industry).

I am hoping to get into this industry and have been looking at Assistant Heards person vacancies.
Clearly from my work experience I do not have any practical experience with working on a farm other than visiting my great uncles as a child and collecting chicken eggs.

I am a fast learner on the job and pick things up quickly.
I live in Birmingham with my wife and child and another on the way. Job security is very important as is regular salary. Commuting is ok up to a point due to have little children.

Does anyone have any advice for me or even better a potential job. I am serious about getting out of the office environment I will take any advice on board

Well hello all,

Firstly, shock, a non-farmer has entered the forum ;)
Have worked on them and been around them all my life but I'm not actually from farming stock - I'm a 2nd year vet student
Quietly been reading threads for the past few months but figured I should bite the bullet and make an account
