Irish hypocrisy

All through the Brexit negotiations, we were told that it would be impossible to have any sort of settlement that that resulted in border posts. That has now been shown to be complete hyprocrisy.

Along comes a virus and suddenly the Irish Police are setting up fixed and mobile checkpoints on the border to ensure that northern folk do not get to their holiday homes for the Easter holidays!

Utter hyprocrisy!

The RoI never said they couldn't put a border up. if you look at the facts and what they done, they done a lot more prep for a border that the UK. It was/is the UK that doesn't want to put a land border up because they chicken sh!t scared shitless that they might get attacked by the IRA. Boris was so scared of the IRA that he put the border in the Irish sea before he even had to and surrendered N.I to the RoI/EU

The government stated they did not want a border because neither parties either side of it wanted one. Not because of the IRA. The UK has a stance of no border for as long as the issue has been discussed.

so if france said they didn't want border checks on the channel tunnel (the nearest thing england has to a land border) the UK government would comply. The hell they would. they tell france to take a running jump, that the UK will but whatever controls it feel necessary on the UK border. the only reason they didn't want to police the only land border they have with the EU was that SF/IRA told them they will attack it. a sad day indeed with the UK given in to the terrorist

Neither Northern Ireland nor Ireland wanted it. Both sides enjoy free movement now, but retain their relative political alignments and have cordial national relationships. Only a muppet of the highest order would dare try to impose any kind of border between them given the history of the region.

French border checks are beyond useless as fits the remainder of Europe which has been the case for decades. Hence the ease at which organised crime and terrorist groups move arms, money or operatives around Europe.

Nobody in Ireland wants a border, end of.

As for these check points then they are mainly for show, one in town tonight with two young lady Garda bored out of their minds listlessly waving people through apart from an occasional car which they stopped and peered through the window from about ten feet and asked something or other, not sure what.

I don't know much about that kind of thing, but I'd guess that appointing people to control disease spread to cut pressure on health services for few months is more affordable than manning customs posts permanently for 100 years.

Are you suggesting that the UK government has started negotiating with republican terrorists?

Its not hypocrisy there are checkpoints all through the Irish republic stopping people traveling within the country to go to holiday homes and the people who have got to their homes are told to stay there People are been turned back everywhere as the rules are that you can only travel 2k without a very good reason

It's just as well SF and the ROI made a mess of that, 20% of what arrived from China wasn't up to spec and a further 15% was set aside to only be used if there's nothing else.

Why would they, you boys are nothing to do with ROI, everybody is out for themselves.
Just look at what America has done with regard to PPE as an example of bullying.

It's Boris's job to send you what you need, since you are part of the UK and up to him to make sure all of the UK have what you need.
