If the dps tubes are blocked , split or otherwise not right, itll stop regenning altogether, and the dpf will block if you keep driving. The fact that it's almostly constantly needing to self clean dictates the engine is making lots of soot i.e poor combustion, and in the case of this engine, youve most likely got shagged injectors, stuck open thermostat, or the egr stuck open , or a boost leak, in that order of likelhood. Fix whichever applies.
Mines regening every 30-40 miles. The sensor tubes aren’t blocked but I haven’t checked for splits.

on inspection the dpf contained ash but no soot.
Iv cleaned the egr valve which had soot in it but valve was not stuck 🤔

Get the intake smoked and the injectors tested.

Not the best the Isuzu dpf solution. Those that get the best out come have had the dpf internals removed and remapped accordingly. I’ve not heard of anyone failing emissions test at mot. There is talk the gov are aware of these rascals fiddling about with emissions controls on vehicles and talk of tighter testing for soot though for now it seems not a problem.

@trev7530 it seems the usual culprits have been checked. Other thing I’ve heard is a faulty sensor(s). It’s true short runs are no good at all for modern diesels. Dealer told me as much when I had problems with previous d max frequently regenerating and can’t help but think they aren’t ideal for your average farmer unless you have farms 100 miles or so apart!
