Iv a few pure lims (not registered) and blue x lims seen his calves on neighbours suckler herd and thought I’d give him a try. Just wandered if anyone knew how much % lim he was.

A guess would be anywhere from 93.75% (15/16) to 100%. And if you're impressed by your neighbour's calves, why not use him.

Can anyone identify any other breed of cattle or sheep where so-called pedigree animals won't have a touch of something else?

Luing, Salers, Beef Shorthorn, Charolais (and Charollais :joyful: ), Angus, Hereford, South Devon, Lincoln Red, and countless others.

And the only purebred sheep in the world is supposed to be found somewhere on the plains in India. And maybe St Kilda.

I thought that was just rumours?

His daughters were all still sold as Limmy Heifers

Do you still call your sheep Lleyns, even if they were bred up from your original ewes, using Texel x tups?

A couple of Limmy breeders have told me that Jaegerbomb was believed to have had a splash of BB in there, not that he’s necessarily any worse for it as a producer of fat cattle of course.

Haha I hope you don't call your 'pedigree' sheep Charollais in that case!!!..

My foundation Lleyn rams were more Welsh Mountain than Texel - even had the hairy beards and Welsh accents (and names)! ;)

But that's my point. If you're running a herd of 'pure' but non pedigree cattle then there is no issue. That beasts passport will still say Limmy.

Jaegerbombs daughters were sold as non pedigree Limmy heifers through H&H a year past in November, and sold very well. They will go on and breed more commercial Limmy bulls.

It is only an issue if you're wanting to play in the pedigree circus
