Hi. Maybe im dumb and i dont know how to adjust the harvester, but whatever i do we cant get even chop lenght. If the grass is heavy ir chops really good and even, but when the swath is small it doesnt cut at all. feels like it just throws out uncut grass.
Changed the shear bar, new knifes, 0.5mm gap , lower pickup speed, and it still wont cut small swaths. We are bagging the grass silage and chop lenght is really important, you cant make a bag with long grass, it just doesnt fill that smooth and the bag has air pockets where it starts to spoil. We are trying to cut grass as wet as possible, it cuts better then. Maybe some tips or tricks ?

Thanks.

Is your feed roller springs tight if feed rollers are loose They just drag it through

Really uneven fields or really uneven swaths? The only way will be to adjust them between different crops.
swaths. we have a lot of small fields, different swath thickness. some fields have heavy grass and it cuts really good. I think our smooth and serrated roller may be worn out and the gap probably is pretty huge, maybe that's the issue as well. After this cut i think its time to take it all apart and restore, new rollers cost is absurd, i think its way cheaper to restore them.
