hi my john deere 6900 recently started slipping in 4th range when warm and somtimes gets no drive so i decided to drain the oil out to have a look see if there was anything in it and found all of this in the oil is this the clutch packs in the gear box?
ive also took the trumpet housings off to see if the brakes had broke up and they were completely gone anyone have any ideas for me is it just the brakes broke up causing loss of pressure in the gearbox or has the clutch packs broke up to

Any lights on? I'd be having it apart now you've go this far, if it only slips in 4th then the pressure is all good, the brake linings are the same material as the clutch packs, so no way to tell where it's from.

Any water in oil? Oil milky? Possibly delaminated brakes and clutch packs

The brakes going through will cause havoc

I’d start by sorting the brakes and making sure all the debris is out. Put fresh oil and filters on then press test the transmission. If the brakes were down to the metal it may have damaged the transmission pump causing low pressure once the oil is hot.
Also those early 6000 series had a habit of crack the C4 clutch drum around the dowel pins and losing pressure. They also wore a groove around the outside where B3 plate runs and you eventually lose 3rd gear as well. There are updated parts to sort both issues though.

It’s loosing all drive when it gets warm starts by slipping in 4th then looses all drive all together

Mine was one of the last 6900s and the clutch drum exploded.☹️

I reckon it's beyond a pressure test now, it'd be some moneys worth of oil to put back in her just to have to chuck it away. Depends who's doing the labour I suppose.

Why chuck it away? Will need oil sooner or later so won’t make much difference dropping it and pulling the power quad after a pressure test.

I'd be worried about contamination from filings from the brakes, but I suppose it isn't the end of the world compared to a blown transmission.
But he’s already repaired the brakes and hopefully cleaned the suction screen and any debris from the back housing. There’s always going to be some in the system after a brake failure so will need to be run and have an oil change after a few hours anyway. A lot will depend on whether it was just the linings delaminating or if it was grinding metal.
It could have just been a blocked suction filter causing the transmission issues so personally I’d want to pressure test it before pulling it out.
