Just had a GPS Quote

I'd really like to know if anyone has used one of those emlid rtk base stations. If for £1400 you can have your own rtk I'd definitely go that way.

Yes I have. Got a pair for testing. Already used with NTRIP both base and rover. Works like a charm.

Next steps is to hook up a couple of UHF radios and test with that. Next week I’m hooking up my Satel base radio and have plans to test for another member on here with a Trimble compat. radio.

So with this you still need steer ready tractor or Electric wheel/screen/cables and the Emlid supplies the signal ? Sorry for being so thick :scratchhead:

In the simplest use case, if you're already running RTK capable tractors etc; you could set up your own RS2 base and send out corrections to your machines either using NTRIP (using the internet / mobile network) or hook up a local radio to the base that speaks the same tongue as the UHF RTK radios in your tractors etc and send them corrections that way.

This would be in lieu of paying for an RTK correction sub from a provider, machinery dealer or near neighbour for example.

There are other use cases, including putting another Reach RS2 receiver on the tractor itself as an RTK rover and then streaming corrected NMEA output position/heading/speed etc direct to your screen or steering controller, but there are some (artificial) limitations - for example with legacy Trimble gear that expects an “external” receiver to speak TSIP (basically wants to see another Trimble receiver)...

As title, just had a GPS quote for my tractor, Electric wheel and GFX 750 screen, NAV 900 controller and Centre Point RTX for £13k.

Can I do better and if so where ?
We are currently in the process of putting up our own base station to run Ag-leader rtk from precise Soloutions. At the moment we are using another farms base station which is 10 miles away. Reason for the change was the price of subscriptions to two local dealers for three tractors and two combines on rtk. If there is a base station near you, it’s is possible to buy a signal from it to save the cost of your own base station.

Any further with this @Pheasant Surprise .
My signal is about to be charged for and with 3 units it's going to be expensive.
Thinking I'd sooner get set up with my own base, but it needs to operate with cnh/trimble screens with trimble radios in them.
