There’s various options available from the aftermarket suppliers, what’s everyone’s thoughts on best value/longevity?

Have our fair share of stones and rock heads, and have found the tungsten options unsuitable as a result.

got 2 genuine boards and rest aftermarket and took a long time to get non-genuine shined up.

Spaldings offer duraface and Acres plus variants, are they worth the extra?

thank you

Just looking at the same myself, Agri linc have some really good deals on their plough steel but will it wear away very fast?
never tried their steel before what's anyone's experience with them?

You mention tungsten, just wondering why you not keen on it, stones, rocks etc knock the tungsten tiles off? Had a lot of tungsten on my kv. Points, shares and landslides. Lasted years! Hard faced and tungsten parts saves a lot of down time if you’re changing them regularly.
replaced the boards with Spaldings and they fitted ok.

I’ve found in the past that the tungsten gets chipped off quite quickly and the rest of the point wears out comparably to a standard one. Tried on ploughs, cultivator and power harrow. Just didn’t work in our ground.

We are going to have to look at new boards soon... Priced it up from KV and thought we'd struggle on with the ones we have till they snap in half. I'd like to put furrow extensions on the plough but half the holes they mount on arent there any more... Is there any reason to buy genuine or is aftermarket stuff all just as good?

Put spaldings metal on mine. Dura faced shins and wings wear wise same as genuine but haven't bought genuine for 25 years. Will get about 1000 acres from mould boards on 4 furrow. Not sure if that's good bad or about the norm. Going to price genuine next time think spalding metal is creeping up but doubt I can get genuine at 1998 prices but if anyone can don't be afraid to let me know

Doing some pricing and Spaldings generally 2/3 of genuine.

Wouldn't touch non genuine metal again . We bought a used plough and it was on non genuine shares the angle of the points were totally wrong compared to genuine. Boards never seem to shine up like kv ones do . Also had non genuine stuff cracking a fair bit .

Our metal suppliers usually have a decent deal on metal if we buy what we need to have for the upcoming season

Had that many years ago on a Naud. 16yr old me thought I was the boy changing all the left side boards by the time the ploughman had only done 3. We had to get the grinder, fore hammer and jcb t get his side to fit.

Had no problems with spaldings plough metal. Buy genuine kv boards though.

Snapped one off today and it broke stay.

Have a new set of boards ordered. Be a wet day job.
