If the first trailer didn't realise that's one thing but the next one failing to stop is very bad

Only hearing one version of events so far.

How do we know what has been reported is correct? Were there other witnesses? Vehicle descriptions are very detailed so more likely to have come from a roadside camera than an eye witness.

Almost impossible for anyone not involved to see what happened on the n/s of a livestock trailer.

Did the oncoming HGV cause the Isuzu driver to swerve/take evasive action?

Did the cyclist veer into the livestock trailer

If the two rowing vehicle were travelling in convoy, very unlikely that either driver was aware.

Yes it's serious, but I've done enough accident investigations to know that there's usually as many versions of events as there are witnesses.

During my EFADS training (blue light fire appliance response), I was told a hazard is anything that may cause you to alter your intended course. Therefore I'd like to know what the LGV did in this situation

what do you mean by the LGV,seems he was the "innocent" party. Seems that currently he may be the only witness, therefore why such good description of alledged suspects. This is only 4 miles from us & on a bendy/hilly bit of road ,with 3 Quarries within 2 miles of accident, therefore lots of tipper wagons & motorcycle fatality nearly every weekend in summer.Guessing local farmers in convoy. I wasn't there but the LGV was. Somebody else said the LGV might have made the pickup swerve but if the pick up was overtaking and "suddenly" an LGV is coming the other way, it sounds like a hazard perception and the pickup truck shouldn't have been overtaking the cyclist. I wasn't there I am just commenting on what others may say might have caused it

I would agree ,looking on the map it looks a dangerous fast bit of road with no room at the side to get out of the way .

It is entirely possible that a driver could pass a cyclist and not see them get hit or fall off. I saw it happen once, a lady was passed by a car coming towards me and she hit a pothole of something that sent her over the handle bars. I stopped along with several others, the immediate consensus amongst the other drivers was that 'the driver hit her and drove off' but I pointed out that wasn't the case. They were going mental and trying to remember his reg number etc until I pointed out I saw what happened and it had nothing to do with the car driver who I presume saw nothing of it and carried on his merry way.

This is what concerns me though, a cyclist comes off in the middle of the road and the chance of being hit by another vehicle on a bend etc is a real possibility. No one comes around a corner at any speed expecting to see what is now a pedestrian prone in the road.

LGV driver would not have witnessed the accident. He/she was travelling in the opposite direction and as said previously, the cyclist was out of view behind the livestock trailer at the time of the incident. I doubt that a driver travelling in the opposite direction would have been able to give such a detailed description of the two other vehicles, which he would have passed within a second or so.

I don't know what happened-neither does anyone not directly involved. But people are already talking about "suspects" "innocent party" and making big assumptions about things like speed, direction of travel, who did what etc.

Unless the police have camera footage, in which case they would be able to find the drivers involved, everyone is relying on witness statements which may be inaccurate or biased.

Which is why they're asking for more information.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.
