This year unlike previous years has been different in that iv kept easycares and lambed them outdoors. Having previously kept commercial types and lambed indoors which has been time and labour intensive. The easycares iv not had to intervene once just observe from a distance. Each to there own but personally for me they suit me and me set up. How is everyone else finding lambing time this year?

It‘s been different but I wouldn’t say that bad for us. It’s damn wet however we are a dry farm generally. This is where the in lamb ewes have been paddling out of the shed and back in the evening. Was pretty wet a couple of days ago feed out rolls but it’s been like that all winter.

Your sheep look fab. Hang on in there..

It has been fine, ewes were a but fatter than normal so we had a few more hung lambs, it was a bit slow to get them outside sometimes due to relentless rain, but mostly fine.

I haven't done the stats yet, but it feels like there haven't been too many losses or problems.

Usual highs and lows, just over half way with our Easycares, all outdoor. Just wish the weather would pick up, had 3” rain on Thursday night and a bloody gale yesterday. Had to intervene with a few more than usual this year, probably a function of just having more than we did, the mild winter and plenty grass probably contributed as well if I’m honest.

This is not a dig but how do you cope with
-Big udders and teats
- blind quarters
-breach lambs
- Head back
-no milk
-ring womb
-weak lambs
-dopey lambs
We lamb indoors and find it far easier to do so with these problems that may arise.
As you say each to their own and if it works for you then great.

Lambing this year has been OK,had a bit of Schmallenburg at the start which also contributed to a higher % of empties.
It's been a constant struggle feeding ewe and lambs outside,we've only had one dry day since March 8th.The fields are bogs and the creep in the feeders get wet nearly every day. It's hard work !
