Linseed as companion

I am planning to put some linseed in as a companion with my autumn cereals, should I be using winter or spring linseed?

How long do you want it to actually hang around for? Either would tick the box for IPM3 but if you’re happy enough to wait until cleaver control timing in the spring, a whiff of fluroxypyr will soon bowl it over.

Are you genuinely wanting the companion for the soil conditioning or are you happy enough with just ticking the SFI box?

I have spring linseed in my over winter cover crops. It seems to survive Oxfordshire winters ok but gets glyphosate in February so I don’t see if it survives any longer than that.

Will linseed survive the autumn pre em stack?

Apparently so. I am told that September drilling works for linseed, once into October it gets too cold for linseed to grow.

Winter linseed is just more frost toleran than spring linseed.
