Linseed harvest

Just heard that they have finished off the bit I was battling with. So 95 acres two lexions defeated within 100 yards, 6 days for 80 acres with our T560 breaking the concave actuator in the process and a day and a half for an axial flow with a stripper header to do the last 15 acres, and the loadall that was pushing the straw up nearly up in flames.
If our agronomist so much as mentions linseed I may not be responsible for my actions!
Been there burnt our cat telehandler out 2 years ago on linseed

So after a long and protracted linseed harvest we finely got the combine put away in the second week of oct ,,,,, after last 2 years ago when the combine flew thru the linseed this last harvest was totally different ,,, lost 2 good combineing afternoons when the rotor drive shafts ripped out part of the wiring loom and the when we got going we had a shaft wrap and then spent a couple of hours with the pleasure of a couple of fire engines in the field but eventually we got done ,,,,,,, at the time of harvest I didn't have time to calibrate yield meter but had a feeling of disappointment as to the guesstimate of the yield ,,,, for such a crop that looked so well I had a feeling that it was yielding around 15 cwt / acre ,,,,, could at least console myself that at least because it was sold well I should still make a usefull margin out of the crop ,,,,,, but today we have just loaded up the last of the crop and it's done 19 cwt ,,,,, not as good as previous harvest but good enough !!!!!!

has anyone cut linseed with a power flow header? are they any good for it?

My JD Premium Flow header was useless in semi flat linseed. A standing crop should be ok but the mass of plants doesn't get grabbed by the belts and moved back to the auger. I guess a variable position knife would be best.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
