I’ve recently being given a 4KW log burner to put in my lounge which is 6.6 long 4 meters wide and 2.2 high. Just worried it isint going to be big enough for the room and get it hot enough? It’s in good condition and high quality. Please lend me your opinions

I wouldn’t write it off, it’s amazing the heat these stoves can put out. We’ve got a 7kw in a room the same size as yours, but with a high ceiling and open plan into a dining room and it heats it no bother, leave the doors open and it gets right through the whole house.

If it’s just that room you’re wanting to heat I reckon it would do the job.

thanks I actually think it’s a 5kw that can can obviously go higher if you throttle it up so should be right in a well insulated room

I think 4kw is the point at which, above, fixed vents are needed into the room, 4 or below, no fixed vents are needed (whoever fits a fire has to be HEATAS registered).

I have have an 11kw in a similar size room and I’ll be honest it can get a bit to hot on milder day/nights. It does heat and he whole house though we just keep the door open. 7 or 8kw would be ideal I would say but even a 4kw will make a big difference on a cold night.

Got a 4kw in our living room 6m × 5m. The house is very well insulated and unless we have very cold weather we can't stand the heat.
We have underfloor heating but it takes a couple of days to calm it down so we only had about 10 fires this winter.

We’ve got a 4.8kw one in a roughly 4x4m room. Just under 5kw is max you can fit without a vent to outside. I wouldn’t want a smaller one for two reason, it will get too hot with door closed but just manages with door open to warm passage and landing, other factor is size of logs. This one needs them split rather small to get full benefit of the fire, abd doesn’t like a lump on knotty oak crammed in. Parents have an 8kw one that will burn any odd shaped, knotty failed to split lumps no bother.

We have a 5kw in a 6.5m by 4m room, new house well insulated, only need to light it if below freezing outside and then we can end up with a window open even letting it circulate the house and a fan on top!
If it's a fairly modern house it'll be fine, if your worried it won't be big enough make sure it's out in the room rather than sat back in an old fireplace

That's the only thing I forgot, log size is the biggest downfall of a smaller one in my view

Mines a 5 but has a good big square door nearly the size of the fire, its surprising the size of bits that will go on it, mate up rd had a similar size fire with a small curved top door and it was ridiculous how small wood had to be to go on it

1 kw per 14 cu/mtr is the guide so just enough, we have a 5 kw burner in a room that's 7.5 mtr by 5.3 with a vaulted ceiling, gets so hot have to startvraking clothes off, it's well insulated though

Must admit I do like the double doors on mine, there’s not much I can’t get in it! Chuck a couple of big logs on before bed and it will still be going in the morning.

old house room probably 5 x 4 ish low ceiling have a fan on top and makes a big difference to whole house close room up and it can get real hot, get odd still days or some old crap wood that maybe just doesn't kick the heat out, but in general I'm happy with that size and think bigger would be too big, I got fire ex display at Good money I put a 7" liner on chimney to allow to change for a bigger fire this just has a 5" with adapter upto the 7, but it works well must be about 8 Yr old now. Good wood management, well seasoned and dry is key,

Ours is a Morso, can get large logs in but they will only burn very slow unless bottom vent is open and all the heat then goes up the flue!!!
