Log burner trouble

Hi I was wondering if any could help me. I've recently fitted a log burner but the fireplace isn't big enough for the burner, isit OK to take the feet off and sit it flat on the base ir will this cause problems. Any help appreciated.
Thanks Adam.

Assume you aren’t worried about building regs then!?

I would be cautious, if it sits on the hearth it may buckle over time as the cold hearth will take away heat quicker than the other sides.

Did you measure it wrong then or make use of what you had!?

I suspect this would be a very very bad idea. It would seriously compromise the safety and efficiency of the stove, not to mention damage the floor. Stoves are designed for airflow to move around them, the need this to air movement to keep the temperature from getting too high, it would also make cleaning round the back very difficult and allow dust etc to gather there and potentially catch fire.

Can you not just raise the lintel? That’s not a massive job.

The stove is not yet fitted sorry I worded the initial post worng. I was just asking if it's possible to fit the stove with no feet, so it fits I could possibly take the header coarse off the fireplace to allow more room. The fire will be sat on a piece of York stone when fitted raised above the tile floor in the kitchen diner. I'm just on here for help and advice on installing it.
Many thanks

If it has external air supply than the feet may not be critical. Plenty of hole in the wall stoves about with no feet but they normally have external air supply.

Raise the lintel.
Having no feet on it will not only make it look naff, but also compromise the door opening and cleaning of ashes etc.
As above, make the hole fit the burner

It will work fine.
Had mine sat on the hearth without legs for years with no issue other than harder to get the dust from underneath.
Would be better sat up a bit if possible, make something it can sit on even if it only gives an inch gap under it. Lets a bit of airflow around it.
Can't see why anyone thinks it will damage the hearth as the bottom doesn't get that hot and old hearths had the fire directly on them, that was the point of them.

As above, could you have it just in front of fireplace as opposed to recessed if you’ve the space? We’ve done both and I think the one that stands out in the room is more effective. Take flue out the top then thru wall into chimney.

Heating appliances have to be installed to Manufacturers Instructions (MI’s) as these supersede the Building Regs. There’s a good chance it has feet for a reason, do the smart thing and leave them in, read the MI’s and install accordingly. If it goes wrong in the future you’ll either invalidate you insurance or even worse hurt someone and then it’s 3-5 years at HMP 😉
