Takes me back that does seeing that name again,Uttoxeter, a dealer mears from staffs used to bring us a load of barren cows from thereUttoxeter market , without doubt the king of staffordshire auctions and probably the most brainless decision in my lifetime to close it.

You would get some lean on her when you went round a corner ?Squeeky bum time when the top deck is loaded too
I know a Bert Kirk from mobberley and his brothers Goodwin,Ian ,Geoff, they ran ERFs A series one with a drag trailerLove the loading gates fastened to the side of the wagon.
Does anyone remember Robert Kirk's (Mobberly, Cheshire) beautiful stock lorry. Wood grain finish on the cab. Pretty sure it was a TK.

Geoff's and Ian Kirk's were alloy body's,Kirk was he known as Burt his lorry was as you decribe was it a Jennings box? they were cattle dealers
If I can work out how to post photos on ere,I've a few of kirkys wagonsYou've got him. Thousands of cattle in Brecon and other marts knocked down to "Burt Kirk". I'd love to see a photo of his wagon. No idea what box it was though.
Jones balers ,I'm still having Therapy we used to bale all our hay with one, rusty old thing, every year bits fell off it or broke take about off another one and off you would go for another season ??No, the famous Denson family, well known for their threshing boxes, were gone before my time.
I do have a picture of Mr. Denson stood with Glynne or David Jones, of Jones Balers, it's in the Jones Baler book, who I understood he got on well with, and tested several early machines for Jones Balers.
Mr Denson (one of them, there could have been several?) used to do the combining for a local farmer, where one of @brynseiri 's inlaws used to work. My father used to go there to help on the corn cart, many years ago by now.
Why do you ask?
the brothers all live on farms still but only keep afew cattle to keep the grass down,?i think they are still in business i used to buy dairy cows off them way back in 68
I thought I'd seen him some where beforeThat bloke on the left in the first picture is an absolute dead ringer for the actor, the late Richard Todd!
Edit : it is Richard Todd. Apparently he was a dairy farmer too.

Had a good hose pipe with plenty of power in it?? Beeston was the same give the wagons a good wash??always liked chester loading was easy as the beasts just walked on the wagon just as well as the RSPCA were always there
Does the ERF runs etcThank you for that. I take it she's still about then. The paint work is beautiful and brings back memories.
I asked about the Kirk bros' lorries on some other forum and a chap sent these two pics.Geoff's and Ian Kirk's were alloy body's,

Looks like Ian's or Geoff's can't remember now, doing the rallys
Pretty sure that's a Williams of Wrexham box. For the era it's not a Thornes / Bodycraft box although a few of their last boxes would have looked similarI asked about the Kirk bros' lorries on some other forum and a chap sent these two pics.
Seem to remember a man in Crewe didDoes the ERF runs etc
I couldn't tell you but a old man put it together in Ian's yard,Pretty sure that's a Williams of Wrexham box. For the era it's not a Thornes / Bodycraft box although a few of their last boxes would have looked similar

Still there with modern housing right around itPerhaps not quite long forgotten but it's always a little disappointing/ upsetting the drive through Tow Law and see the old ring stood there in such a sorry state, slapped with a preservation order but might as well be knocked down if they aren't going to renovate it
This is the entrance off gresty road. Not sure its there now been filled in by house extension. If I remember the main entrance was further up
