My name is Jamie and I live in Whetstone, Leicester. I am 45 and I work full time as a site manager from Monday to Friday for a remediation company.
I'm also a keen photographer and do it as a hobby in my spare time, my link to my website is at the bottom of this email.
My other hobby metal detecting and that's the reason I'm contacting you. Would you consider allowing me to detect on your land?
I am a very honest person and I do this as a hobby and not for financial gain. I just enjoy getting out and get a thrill finding old coins, and buttons etc.
I'm very respectful of the land I detect on with most finds only being roughly 4inches deep so I dig in a way that leaves the ground looking like how it was found with very minimal disturbance.
Also im very aware of livestock and the importance of fencing and gates etc, I always close gates behind me and never take short cuts causing damage to fencing. Also any scrap bits of metal I find in the dig holes will be removed and taken with me which helps clean up your land.
I am a member of a few metal detecting groups and go on organised digs regularly. I am also a member of NCMD which is the National council for metal detecting which provides me with public liability insurance up to £10,000,000 which gives land owners peace of mind when allowing someone to detect on their land.
In the organised digs I go on, the Detectorist Anything above over a agreed value will be a 50\50 split with the land owner. As I said earlier I am very honest and always honour this agreement. I can even provide a written agreement if needed.
Any important finds will be recorded and sent to a finds liaison officer who may report it as a national treasure and he must give any museums the chance of buying it, if this happens then the purchase price will be split 50/50 with the land owner.
I will also record and photograph any smaller finds if they have any historical importance so you will have some history of your land.
If you agree to give me permission to detect on your land please can you reply to this email and maybe attach a google map image of the fields that you would like me to detect and any questions you might have.
Sorry for the long post.
Thanks Jamie
