Low cross conveyor diet feeder

I’m looking for options when it comes to low cross conveyor discharge tub diet feeders. We’ve a 12’ central passage that we feed down both sides against a 40-50cm high barrier. So I usually end up with a small amount straight through the feed frame and into the muck if a big lump comes out or something. On our current strautmann that we’ve run for 9 years or so I’ve slowed the conveyor speed so it doesn’t throw it to far, but there’s always a sprinkle making over the barrier. I’m sure the conveyor bed is 60cm high, so with silage on top it’s a fine threshold between dropping it slowly on the floor or firing a bit into the muck.
I remember seeing a diet feeder with a really low cross conveyor a while back, but can’t remember what make it was.
The current feeder has narrow wheels tucked under which help avoid running over silage already fed out
Hope that all makes sense....Any recommendations??

Do you really need the conveyor? If a simple drop door will do then use that? Put them behind the wheels and you can't run over the feed.

Strautman had/have a low conveyor that goes across front of feeder. Maybe they've perfected it now. But early ones were troublesome and didn't like diets with lots of straw.

Kverneland/Siloking do a model called an avant, that is low, has a full width conveyor ono it...they did have a demo one...how much room do you have either side...perhaps a flat moveable conveyor would work, but push it left when you feed right then it will drop it shorter, or would a rear door be better?

@Col555 lools like we are feeding the same way as you, passage may be a little wider. Currently have a Shelbourne feeder. Cross conveyor works a treat and no problem feeding in the passageway

I tried/demo’d a couple of side opening door machines, as well as a Keenan and a hi spec mixmax, but didn’t gel with any of them, which is why I’m looking to stick with a cross conveyor.

Can you rig up an old rubber or steel flap above the conveyor to hang down and deflect any over-enthusiastic lumps from flying over the barrier?
