Not great but not disastrous. If you raddled them any idea if tup stopped working at some point if a lot had 2 marks.
They were both working , although one has gone a bit lame ( both now in the shed)
Scanner said it’s because they are shearlings 🤔
I suppose on the bright side we can hopefully let them have an easier first lambing

I don’t suppose you had the two rams fertility tested? If not then I would do now, if only to rule that out, and for another year. I suspect something is amiss with them from that result.

I appreciate your on a hill, and they wouldn’t be a hugely prolific breed anyway, but that’s too many empties from shearlings for it to be a ewe problem imo. In saying that, I’m assuming that group haven’t fallen to bits since tupping from fluke or worms of course.

No they are clean sheep, mind you they went a bit flukey but were treated and come back well …, maybe I’ve just answered my own question 😖

Could be anything, Fluke, Extreme wet, tup gone off the boil................its too high a number not to be something linked between them, there's as many walkers & dogs spreading all sorts

Not too late to put the tup in with the empties.
The empties could well be late as we didn’t take the tups out this time , it’s the amount of singles I was wondering about

We don’t tup ewe lambs and winter them with a teaser to deal with this. You still get shearlings that are empty, especially if you take the tups out before November. Just part of the job.

I wouldn't be overly concerned by the amount of singles, you're using breeds that aren't overly prolific in my opinion and shearlings often have less lambs than more mature ewes..
I'd be more concerned by the empties, I'm in a similar position. Might well be late rather than empty but im not running a charity, i don't want to prolong lambing so lambing needs to be relatively tight, lates can go.
The tup, can go.
Ewes can be blood tested to rule out issues.
If they don't pay, they dont stay , simple!
