To our farmers, growers and supply-chain businesses,

There is little doubt that the events of recent weeks are changing how we live, work and care for one another, as well as how we shop and eat.

Supply chains and farmers are having to adapt in new ways to new challenges, and here at AHDB, we are committed to supporting where we can.

We are now expanding our support further by launching a 12-week beef consumer campaign around the call to #makeitsteak and #steaknight to help redress carcase balance and generate additional value for the beef supply chain.

We are working with colleagues in Scotland and Wales on our new promotional campaigns, which include beef, lamb and pork, and will roll these out over the coming weeks, in national media and on social channels. The focus is on marketing to consumers of all ages across Britain.

At the same time, we are increasing the presence of the award-winning Department for Dairy-Related Scrumptious Affairs (DDRSA) across social media (instagram.com/deptofdairyscrumptiousaffairs and facebook.com/TDDRA) to remind people of the versatility and enjoyment of dairy in the diet.

To help us amplify the content and get the nation cooking, we have pulled together a collection of relevant links, recipes and ‘how-to videos’ for all to share widely. This is on our website at ahdb.org.uk/steak-night

We would welcome our farmers and growers supporting these campaigns. Please take a look at our websites and get involved!

At AHDB, we continue to do what we can to support you during these exceptional times. Please do help share the content so we can amplify our messaging and reach as many people as possible.

South Africa, Zimbabwe (years ago, ok 1981 if you must know), America all have steak for breakfast
eggs and fried bread. Superb!!
i was younger then
steak is so easy to cook, ask most blokes it’s about the only thing they know how to cook
its the only thing I cook!
Great promotion haven’t seen it on my fb pages yet how do I like and share?

We were once served rack of lamb at a works dinner dance and when we cut into it the darned thing bled all over the plate. Most of us sent it back saying that we wanted it cooked proper! The chef was irate and it came back to our tables like a crispy critter!

Why not steak and chips night? AHDB potato could 'chip' in to encourage consumption of chips? Or do they not get involved in marketing? And yes I have beef cattle and chipping potatoes worth bugger all to sell.

This is great - even though things appear to be, quite literally "in the doldrums", there has never been a better time, a more exciting time, to be involved in agriculture.
People living in less cluttered days, I'm using that to try and promote the positive side of what we're doing on the ranch, it's really well received too.

Brilliant initiative (y)

I had an alert too. Probably everybody on TFF had. Problem is that I cannot buy UK meat here. Plenty of Polish. The supermarket chain Continente/Modelo, a Portuguese company seemed to sell only Polish beef the last time I looked, although I have seen Namibian beef in there too. On the other hand the French company Auchan with the supermarket chain Jumbo sells extremely good Portuguese meat, especially the beef. We buy in Jumbo.

Why was this aimed at TFF members, who I am sure buy meat only from within the country where they farm, and not at the British public? We do not need to be convinced to eat meat at least twice a day, and to buy local. The wider public do need to be persuaded.

Is it not to tell us to share it on social media?
