Manitou MT1030 or 1436

Hi all,
Considering telehandler for general building work around farm and to assist on farm when needed. Need 10metre min reach. Any reason to keep away from either of MT1030ST or MT1436R? Both around 2010 year and 8K hours and no real history...
Understand the construction crowd angle limitations and swan neck strength etc... but 7metre agg spec just won't do (for now).
Thanks.

MT1436 - no real issues - early ones did not have any pre-heat indicator light so sometimes hard to know when you were on the pre heat circuit in cold weather - 1840 to avoid if not a Chain Boom - MT1030 changed very little over the years - suffered the same as 732/932 with angle gear box seals / bearings, comp ram bushes, TC Tab works loose ( take a 13 mm spanner and torch with you on 1030 ) slacken TC inspection cover bolt, take one out, flip cover to one side, look for oil leak at back of TC, grab hold of TC and try to slide up shaft - not too bad of a job with manual g/box to drop box down and reseal. If you are buying bucket for 1030 get the manufactures to weld bracket vertical not leaning forward to make best use of tilt and crowd angle. PM me for any further info - sold big numbers of construction spec over many years - would suggest you can buy a machine with less hours than 8 k hours. 1436 a lot bigger than 1030 and 1030 inner boom not suitable for heavy AG work.

Thanks Sparkplug.
Must admit the hrs do concern. Finance dictates I'm afraid.
Also an older yr 2000 MT1233S, 6.5K hrs, from reputable user/seller which maybe a better option, again if the model is not one to keep away from. I guess it's more similar to the 1436?

I wouldn't have either 1232 or the 1436 imo.

i would have a newer MT1235 or 1330 2003 onwards.

MT1436 and all similar ones with that newer style cab have a few issues with electrics and you will be tied to a dealer to fix them unlike an old school chassis 1235, 1330, 1335 etc. Also the 1436 boom design is not great with the wear pads, internal boom hose trays etc

MT 1030 okay best with 2003 onwards as better boom, but they are not suited to bucket work and can twist the boom and or snap the swan neck off a there too small a box section.

MLT 845 is a nice big brute of a machine if that would do? good strong boom on them.

Thanks for the reply Ace.
Did mean to say that new fangled electronics are not required, so agreed old school is best. Food for thought there... 👍
