Massey 6150 or 3075

Well when you were happy with the 565 (we don't like 500's here) you should be well please with whatever you get. If you don't spanner, might be worth getting a bit of warranty ........
With you 100% on dislike of the 500 series. Would rather have glass in my eyes and a dose of clap than ever possess one of those badly built heaps of sh!t.
Farm I worked on in the seventies chopped in the their 100 series for or a selection of 500s. One didn't even get off the transporter as it refused to start (Lucas prince of darkness) so went back to dealers. Electrics were awful, axle castings broke and the cab? Single door shut for first.month and then never again. Tractors of not a year old with doors tied shut with bale twine. Opening windows fell out, rattled and noisy one tractor driver used to leave his running flat out at breaks to run up the hours quicker so he could be rid. In the end the 'handbrake failed':ROFLMAO: when he was opening a gate and it ran down a hill to a well deserved early death. I'm sure they built some good ones but garlick and a crucifix time for me.

We have a late (M reg) dynashift 3075 that's been brilliant. 10400hrs. Here since 2003.
New 3085 in 1993 was a good old bus, though not the fittest, compared to the Ereg 2wd 399 it replaced (It could pull!) Left here at 4yo with 3800hrs
6170 that replaced the 3085 was (still is) the worst, most unreliable pile of monkey nuts to grace our yard. Left here at 4yo with 2900 tedius hours on
S/h 6180 came in 2008 as an extra cart tractor and was much better in every way....til its wiring caught fire . 6150 and 6180 had stanadyne injection pumps, which were much better performers than the 6160&70's.
If you look at 6150's get a manual shuttle!
We had two 6290's, both from new, earlier 51reg was great with ccls, other 52reg was good, though basic spec. Both left 4-5yo with 5-6000hrs. Get armrest with cup holder, was facelift time, better tractors. Electrics better on 62's, power shuttle brilliant. 02 6290 we sometimes hire goes very very well, past 10000hrs last spring too.
We had a 550 in 1977...new...it lasted a year and was replaced by a Ford 4600! It had replaced one of a pair of 135's - it's mate is still here!!

We got an early 6170 (M reg) , it came with the forward/reverse button on the end of the dynashift stalk. After numerous dealer call outs it was replaced with the small lever that wasn't much better. Finally we got the forward / reverse gear lever fitted and thats how it stayed until replaced by far superior 6290 in 2001. I wouldn't say the 6170 was the worst tractor MF ever made, the 6290 however was in my opinion one of the best.

I would never have thought there to be much difference in operator comfort between the 565 and the 265
500 series was the height of luxury at the time, nice big cab, nearly flat floor, my 265 has a bargain basement Duncan cab, big transmission tunnel and same awkward clutch pedal as 65/165, only the clutch pedal position is even worse due to the transmission spacer
Of course there were other cab options, a Sankey would be nicer, or even a later flat floor Duncan cab
But it's a top spec tractor in other ways, auxculliry pump, 3 spools, multi power

You will definitely have more choice with 6150 than 3075. Good 3000 series are very rare now.

We have owned a 3085 Dynashift, a 6150 Dynashift and a 6265 Dynashift, the 6265 was the worst tractor we have ever owned, so I may be a wee bit biased but I would be looking for a 61 rather than 62.

Our 390 had the 12x12 box with 40k and was a brilliant tractor, but again like the 3000 series finding a good genuine one will come with a silly price tag!
Old thread but here goes. Was intercooler 6265 more powerful than 6150 and what irritated you?

@madscientist 6265 had slightly more puff than the 6150 but not by much.

Our 6265 had a catalogue of breakdowns which started not long out of warranty.

Front reduction hub collapsed at 650 hours, a circlip had not been fitted in the factory. Supplying Dealer helped with some of the repair bill.

Turbo failed at 1800 hours. New turbo fitted by Supplying Dealer. Our cost.

Engine balance gear “fell off” at 2100 hours. Repaired by supplying dealer. Our cost.

Melted a piston at 2600 hours. At this point it received a change of address!

We obviously had a “Friday afternoon “ tractor.

Even the mechanics at our dealer told us not to touch 6100 series but our 6150 was a great tractor, infact it was fantastic compared to our 6265.
