Massey Ferguson Dyna VT

Had a 2018 6615s dyna vt last year. Found a victim for it after less than a year. Fendt backend and transmission did not impress me. I imagine the software was not the same as what’s used in a Fendt.

nearly 2600hrs of using my 7499, since i bought it used at 1600 odd hrs on nearly 5years ago wont be that much diff to VT trans in the other masseys newer even
way way superior to a D6.
No the Software wont be as in the Fendt but i dont feel cheated at all.
Its a cheaper tractor to buy from the outset.
Atleast if the trans ever fails its not that much dearer a repair than just fixing the 3rd gear issue that quite a few of the bigger framed masseys have had.
or atleast so ive heard it isnt. :nailbiting:

Did you buy it new. 150hp small frame vt tractor is a bit of an oddball today, especially as a 66. I’m curious - what are it’s tasks, and why didn’t you like it?

On slowing down it would over Rev the engine, also found that the tractor would free wheel/run away when you would not expect it to and delay in going from fed to rev meant you had to be ready to brake. Loads of electric issues/msgs, PTO solenoid let me down twice while Hedgecutting which meant no way to fold up Hedgecutter, no way would it handle a fusion Baler and when you lifted a bale on front loader with the Keltic bale handler it was almost impossible to turn the front wheels the steering was so heavy. No comfort in the size of the seat, no space in the cab, datatronic screen completely outdated, no touch screen and some parameters could only be changed on the dot matrix Mickey Mouse screen on the dash. Toolbox hovered in sh!t and prone to falling off tractor, I could go on. I think some people love them and that’s there right but there are lots of brands out there superior to MF.

Spud, It was bought new in January 2018 for yard work with a loader and Keltic bale handler for feeding cattle, mowing with a 3.2m trailed mower, Hedgecutting with a 6.5t trimmer and pulling a Kuhn Bio combined Baler and all other farm work. Put 1300 hours on it.

From my experience of my own and a number of other vt masseys, the behaviour of yours is unusual. There is a delay you can set on the shuttle so that it doesn't declutch immediately when you lift it, that results in the smoothest and most controlled shuttle on the market in my opinion.

T Bourne you may well be right. At the same time I had a Jd 6155r ivt and I can tell you that tractor was in a different league in terms of fit, finish, layout and the ability to configure the tractor from the large touch screen. BUT the one thing I have learned from been on here is that what I percive as an issue others don’t even notice. For example I had numerous NH tractors, TS110,115 6030 6070 and I never heard the transmission whine yet on here it seems everyone else has. The other day someone on here described his Nh T6.175 with new gearbox as a great tractor and then alluded to oil leaks and other issues with it despite it been brand new. I would have thought his description would have been disappointed with a tractor having so many issues and it been new. We farmers are so different in our expectations.

Did you not have a demo to asses suitability before you bought it?

Dyna VT is a complete abomination compared to the Fendt vario... and yes have driven both !
well if you can advise me how to get my 3.8t wheat crops to fund the extra £30k towards the green tractor then iam all ears.
meanwhile back to earth the dyna-vt is doing the job just fine.
The one thing ive not been able to get to grips with is Masseys version of TMS called DTM
it must not be the same at all so i never use it.
Never operated a Fendt so cant comment.
my budget cant stretch to one & thats the end of the matter

DTM was an after thought on our 74s , without being able to set min and max revs it's pretty pointless imo.

I also find mine runs away on hills compared to my Deere autopowr , not just in high road work but even with a trailed sprayer in low range .

Great transmission otherwise . Don't think there is a job I'd rather have a dyna6 or any other power shift on
