13.6/38 don't look stupid on a 7610. Just flat out will be 18-19 mph at best.
Narrow tyres and good speed is impossible[emoji24]

Had 18.4/38 on mine. She did 40K
No it's possible you can go tall and narrow. but at a costNarrow tyres and good speed is impossible[emoji24]

I'm surprised with all your Ford knowledge that you didn't know all 7810's had H pattern gearboxes as they were introduced at the 1988 Smithfield Show iirc so well after the super q cab. Rubik cube was the very early 10 series from '81 to '83 when they were changed to H pattern. Also I believe X blocks were only 4cyl and not 6. ALL tractors that have done a few hours trailer ing will have worn puh's and leaky spools. Don't know of any others who fitted the lever on the side of the scvs to help put pipes in.Make sure the oil is black, the coolant is clean, genuine filters are a good sign, the gear linkages are tight and its the uprated H pattern, not a poxy rubik cube
it will invariably have had an X pattern block fitted at some point. Worn PUHs, leaky spools, the back window will probably need renewing as they are fragile
See it start from cold as well
She was brilliant, and looked the part to...That's would of looked smart![emoji7]im a bit jealous of the spead[emoji24]

Shame it was before the days of camera phones..
They don't do head gaskets like you imply, only if you block the rad and cook 'em. Torque Amplifier issues on old abused examples perhaps, but they are only light weight tractors really. What are collectively known as 'Continental' models (844 and 856 4cyl and 956 and 1056 6 cyl) are very good, bomb proof tractors, and generally are much cheaper to buy then their Ford or Massey counterparts of the same standing.Do not despair young man!
It wasn't meant to be.
Console yourself with the fact that there are plenty more out there, probably better than that one was. Admittedly, they might be a bit of a bugger to go and look at from Orkney and the haulage might cost a bit more. But when it doesn't happen and you didn't end up with something like this, always remember that there are always alternatives and that you will get something better instead.
What is more, as the dealer knows you are looking and he is a friend of your Dad's, if he has any sense he will find something right for you.
Good but nothing like as good as a 7740. Completely different animal painted the same colour. IMO you should also consider a 6640 which is the same but without a turbo. Do you really need a turbo's tractor? A 6640 is 5 litres after all FCS!
Others 4 cylinders to consider are the MF 390, 390T or 398T. Bombproof reliability and simple. But go for the gear levers on the side if you can rather than the middle. Isn't that dealer an MF chap?
Don't know too much about any 4 cylinder Maxxums and I'd avoid anything older IH wise, like the plague - Head gasket and TA problems.

The way you said it it sounds like your saying to make sure it's the updated h pattern column shift gearbox which was only on Q cab, AP and LP cabs. The Super Q had the H Pattern at the RHS although some had the constant mesh gearbox to the rightIf you had read the previous posts you might have worked out i was offering advice as regards to a 7610....which is what was being asked about!
A fake add? What about john Deere 6200? We have found a stupid cheap (4K)[emoji15] one south a bit!says she's done less the 5k hours much be something seriously wrong there not saying in the add?

So it was a series 2 with the low cab?7610 i drove was a series 2, what had recieved the H pattern column mod, although the range lever was still in a knee clashingly awkward place
it also had the later X block
4610 was still pure rubik cube, part prayer, part craft and part guesswork finding a gear, and luck if you found it twice on the trot

Series 2 to was the introduction of the super q in Autumn '85 with rhs gears, column gears were series 10 q cab
White and blue stickers were series 1Il have to find a picture...i may have been a series 1 thinking about it....white transfers with blue lettering? Peculair throttle what leaned across the dash at about 10 o clock when it was on tickover
It was on 13/6/38s, 10 years at least since i drove it
