Fairly new to wrappers, so not sure if operator error or machine, we've a 998 and the wrap keeps ripping mid bale, got another operator on it now and it's still doing it, both operators have said the rolls are undamaged, used a few brands last year, didn't make any difference, got some decent stuff this year, had another bad day today, off the tractor more than I like to see, can't keep up with me baling which is a joke from a machine that cost that much, any help, tips appreciated

Slow the speed of the wrapper down a bit, ours struggles when ambient temp is hot, or table speed is a bit high.

so I thought I'd done that, max speed is 30, correct? I put it down to 25 last year, he said it didn't help....or have I adjusted the wrong speed?

Stretch rollers clean, undamaged and spinning freely?
Are the cut and holds catching the wrap? Do they have accumulators that need bled?
Have you spoken to McHale? Back up used to be fairly good.
No experience of the 998 but spent too long on Fusions....

I'll check on the rollers, the cut and holds work, but one side is ripping mid wrap so cut and hold surely isn't involved. Spoken to the dealer, not McHale themselves...

Is it always the same side that's ripping? I used to mark a problem stretch unit with a cable tie.
Can you slow everything down and get out of the cab to watch it?

I would ring mchale direct and ask them.
i spoke to them today and a problem with my baler and they were very helpful and my dealer was totally rubbish.

Green or black wrap? Always run green silotite through our 998 when ever I try other brands or black plastic troubles always occur!
It’s a bad job if you can only use one type? Granted our 998 used to play up with cheap wrap, but colour was never a problem
